9 CHAPTER 9:

"Good job Jade!! You did an excellent job!!" Brother Cedric said while rubbing my back. I can see dad next to the bear decapitating it with a swing of his arm, ending the bear's misery. 'Must be air magic.' I thought before throwing up a mouthfull once more.

"You did a good job, son!" stated dad with pride in his face. "T..Thanks." I barely managed to say, as dad took my satchel and stored the bear's body and head.

"Come on! Let's go back. Cedric you carry Jade in your back, I don't think he can walk for some time." brother Cedric heared dad and lifted me on his back.

As we were about to turn our way back, we heard some noise from the site ahead. Dad turned to brother, and told him to go back first, before turning around to deal with whatever was making the sounds.

I couldn't completly follow my dad, I only saw his silhouette from the cornor of my eyes, as brother started running.

The forest was deadly quiet, not even a single sound of wind rustling through leaves. Even brother, who would normally joke around was quiet.

It didn't take us a lot of time to leave the forest, I could finally start seeing the carriage in the same spot we left it on. 'I want to go back home, I don't feel so good.' I thought trying my best to not puke again, and it worked thus far.

Once we got inside the carriage, we had to wait for some time before dad arrived. When dad came back, he quickly sat down and gave the next destination.

"To the guild once more." and the carriage started moving, the sun was starting to set down and the sky was painted with beautiful red and orange.

The city looked different than in the morning, as people have started to lessen, whilst sell swords and water dancers where everywhere they all headed to the same direction.

'Lady Demetric told me about those, they are most likely sellswords and water dancers. I still can't believe that there is only one drinkable water source, and that people resort to fighting or even killing for it.'

The sun was long gone by the time we reached the guild and the queue was gone too, as we got in I could see many sell swords at the reception getting their rewards.

"Ahh! You are back sir, master!" said Sheryl who was still behind the desk, "Yes, the mission is over and here's the proof." Dad made a hand gesture to me, and I took out of my satchel a 12 feet bear that had his head decapitated.

"Good job, sir!! Here's the reward!! Also would you like to sell the bear's body?" Sheryl inquired. "How much would it earn?" I asked, "About 5 gold dragon coins, as it's quite big for a bear."

"Sure." I said not paying much attention, "The total after Taxes will be 20 gold dragon coins, 70 silver stag coins and 34 copper penny coins."

I could hear some grunting from the crowd of sell swords, so did dad who didn't seem surprised by it. "Your money will be here in a moment."

After what seemed like an eternity, but was actually 5 minutes. Sheryl came back with a sac, "Here you go, 50 gold dragon, 70 silver stag and 34 copper penny coins. We hope to see you again." she said while handing it to me, "Thanks." I quickly put my money in my satchel, and left with dad in toe.

We rode the carriage directly home, and the entire ride was tense.

Brother Cedric kept giving me side glances, and as soon as he would open his mouth he would close it back again. He kept doing that the entire time.

On the other side, dad kept drumming his fingers and glancing at both me and Cedric. He would then lock the buttons in his sleeves, just to unlock them a little later on. Rinse and repeat.

As soon as we got home, I opened the door and jumped out of the carriage and stormed into the house. Despite dad and brother Cedric's plea to stop, I simply kept going.

Lady Demetric was by the door along side mom, mom looked between me and my dad before coming in to hug me.

"So how was it my little man? Did you have fun with dad and Cedric?" my mom asked as I broke from her hug.

"It was fine. I need some sleep, can I go to my room?" I ask rhetorically, as I am already moving to my room.

"Yes, of course. You must be so tired. Lady D, inform the chef to prepare Jade's favourite meal." mom said to lady Demetric.

I went straight to my room where I spent the rest of the day, contemplating what had happened unable to sleep.
