Magic

Magic is the ability someone has to use mana and make certain phenomena happens.

Magic is something deep and supposedly endless, hence people can only use magic through certain ways as they haven't found new ones yet, which result in them only having affinities with some elements and in some cases, something like body-reinforcement.

- What is mana?

Mana is how the energy used to make a magic happen. Mana is just one way of calling it, the MC calls it mana because it's simpler, but it can also be called:

Qi / Aether / Ether / Internal Force / Inner Force / Aura / Will

And some others, but these are the main ones.

- Where does mana come from?

Mana is everywhere and at all times with few exceptions that are called dead zones, zones without mana. Mana is suspected to be something that was always present along with humans in this universe but only after millenniums passed and the races arrived did some humans evolved enough to perceive and manipulate it.

Mana is suspected to be what we call today as "Dark matter".

- How does mana affect the world?

Mana or (supposedly) dark matter as said above is something that is always present at everywhere (except dead zones), hence someone could use magic no matter where in the universe they were (except for dead zones).

Magic consists of transforming mana or dark matter, an energy that is present everywhere but affects the surroundings in a level almost nonexistent, into a phenomenon. Imagine this:

Someone has fire affinity, this person will the mana and the energy that was there, the supposed dark matter/ mana transforms itself and generates fire.

This is done following the law of thermodynamics that energy can't be destroyed, just transformed.

Also, the quantity of mana or dark matter that be manipulated corresponds to one's level of understanding of magic, general one and theirs.

- Mana cores

Mana cores are metaphysical spaces inside oneself that contain the energy called mana.

This space is where the energy is brough to and compressed into a state where it's purer, liquid and is more effective to use.

(A/N: Manipulate energy/ mana outside of one's body, that is, in the surroundings, is extremely hard and can only be done in small amounts. People who can do manipulate it this way are real powerhouses.)

- Mana veins

Mana veins are a metaphysical channels where mana/ energy/ dark matter runs to go outside the body.

Not everyone has mana veins and it is not needed to have it to practice or use magic, however, not having it will result in one having to manually guide their energy outside their body and might result in the magic blowing up or not activating.

Some terms:

Diver: They are hackers that who act directly and mainly in the Nexus Net. They are considered criminals and are illegal and hunted everywhere. However, every company/ corporation that can be considered a proper one, has at least a few or couple dozens of divers at their service. Divers at higher-level can-do thing that are borderline or even considered magic but inside the Nexus Net.

Mages: Mages are the ones who study magic through their own understanding about their own magic. They are more of "explorers". Mages are the second rarer among the magical sub-classes and are normally the ones with high firepower.

Sorcerers: Sorcerers are the ones who depends on artifacts, grimoires, staffs and other more "classical" things that mages in RPGs generally uses. They are more of a "jack-of-all-trades".

Warlocks: Warlocks are rarer than mages because they use dark energy, the same one that makes the universe keeps expanding and can use "null magic", they are almost nonexistent. Aside from this, they can borrow a power coming from some entity or being that is of a higher level than them. Such beings are unknown at this point of the novel.

Martial Artists: Commonly mistaken as the classical ones, but they are people who use mana to enhance themselves and have proper arts based around the use of mana. It's not necessary to have an affinity with body-reinforcement or something similar, it's possible to reinforce one's body with mana but something like the affinity mentioned is far superior and less mana-consuming.

They are some short of cultivators, however focusing more in the internal aspect.
