The Three Questions

Lu Yifeng looked at her and said " I will ask you one question in Science and 2 in mathematics. If you get them right, you will get you book back. if you answer even one incorrectly, you will have to become my pet and do everything I tell you to. Do you have any questions?"

Shanaya glanced at him and said " Okay okay I get it. The sooner we start the faster we can get this over with. Just ask the questions already!" It irked Yifeng at how badly she wanted him to get out. It was as if his presence was a hindrance to her.....which it was but he thought too highly of himself to notice. He walked to her desk a grabbed a notebook that was on it. He opened a fresh page and started writing the questions that he would ask her to solve.

It too him 10 minutes to write the questions. He wracked his brain to write the hardest questions he could possibly think of. He remembered the hardest questions he had once solved and gave it to Shanaya to solve. He just gave it to her for his own amusement. He did not think that she would even know the concepts behind the questions. He then turned around to take a look at her room.

He was surprised after seeing her room. This was not how he pictured how a girl's room would look. He thought that it would be highly decorated with bright colors....but...her room was very simple. There were not many decorations, only a few photo frames on the wall behind her bed. The corner of her room had many musical instruments. The wall held a guitar and a ukulele, with a keyboard right in front of it. There was also a small harmonium kept beside it. 'It seemed like she knew how to play quite a few instruments' he thought to himself. He turned to look at the other side of the room and was taken aback. At least half of her room was filled with books! It looked like a library! He walked to the bookshelves and started looking at the books. There were all sorts of books... from encyclopedias to mystery novels. The books were placed in a very systematic way.

While Lu Yifeng was roaming around her room, Shanaya looked at the questions and inwardly smirked....He did not go easy on her. It was seen by the level of questions that he gave her. But too bad for him, she could solve all these questions without blinking an eye. She thought that his reaction would be very interesting to see when she gave all the answers.

15 Minutes later

" I'm done ." A sudden voice broke Yifeng's thoughts from the books. He looked at Shanaya with a shocked gaze. He stood rooted in his spot with various thoughts running through his mind. 'How is this possible... It took me 20 Minutes to solve each problem.. but she solved all of them in 15 minutes... Impossible!'

He tried to think rationally...he thought she must be bluffing...yes ... that must be it. He walked over with a calm look on his face.. but the way he tripped and was almost falling down gave away how he actually felt. He walked to Shanaya and looked at the notebook. After scrutinizing it for a long time, he looked at Shanaya with a complicated gaze. All of her answers were right. They were worked out step by step and were clearer and easier to understand than most textbooks.

Shanaya saw the expression on his face and almost broke down laughing, but she controlled herself and said, "Can I get my book back now?" These words jolted back Yifeng to reality. He then asked her a stupid question that he knew the answer to. "Did you actually solve these questions?"

"Nope I simply jotted down random things that came into my mind." Shanaya replied sarcastically. She then said, "Now give the book back. Or are you going to go back on your word?"

Yifeng saw her sarcastic smile and calmed down. He gave her the book and looked at her. She grabbed her book and returned to her desk as if he did not exist.

Yifeng "..." He then stepped out of the room with a confused look.

****************

The next day Shanaya got up early in the morning to go out on a run. It was 5:00am and she wore a pair of shorts, a t-shirt and a pair of jogging shoes. She tied her hair up in a ponytail and walked out of the house. The sun had just risen up and it was shining brightly. The neighborhood they were in was very lush and green. There were many trees and flowers blooming all around. Shanaya explored the new environment and stumbled upon a small waterfall and stream. The view was breathtaking. It made her calm. It looked like no one had seen this part of the neighborhood yet. She sat there for 10 minutes listening to the birds chirping and enjoying the atmosphere before getting up. She saw the time and rushed back home when she looked at the time. It was 5:45. She had to reach school by 6:00 for the tryouts. She sprinted at her top speed which left the other people who were walking there baffled. She was panting when she reached home.
