First Day of School

After introducing herself to the people around her, the class started. The room was silent when the teacher entered the classroom. She was a tall and elegant woman. She displayed confidence and pride in herself. She asked Shanaya to introduce herself as a new student. Shanaya did so and sat back in her seat. The lady was their homeroom teacher and taught them mathematics. The class was very boring for Shanaya. She was from a school with the most difficult curriculum. The level of the subjects were so high that most people had to drop out. Shanaya was able to keep up with it and also have fun at the same time. She never put much effort into it either. One could say she was a genius among geniuses. Shanaya had already finished the portion for graduation back in her old school, so the concepts in the class were a piece of cake for her.

She still payed attention to the teacher and waited for all the classes to get over. She couldn't wait for the last class which was...Gym class! Yes Gym! She was more of a tomboy and loved to play any sport. She was up for any challenge and was a risk - taker. The classes was finally over and the teacher left the classroom. She started talking to the person she was seated next to. His name was Qin Qing. He had a perfect appearance with a well defined nose and almond shaped eyes. But of course, he paled in comparison to Lu Yifeng. Shanaya spoke to him in Mandarin surprising him. She lifted her hand for a handshake and said, " The name is Shanaya Rathore. You can call me Shanaya. Hope we can be friends." Qin Qing was caught off guard but replied soon. " Qin Qing. you can call me Qing. And yes we can be friends." Soon enough both of them started speaking without any formalities and discovered they have much in common. She soon became a part of his group of friends. They were all in the same class. There were four boys and three girls including Qin Qing. Shanaya was soon included in their circle and all of them were on their way to the changing rooms. Shanaya came to know their names. Nan Qiqi, Lin Jinling and Mo Wanwan were the names of the girls and the boys were Jun Yan, Lan Ping and Mo Lanfeng.

In the changing rooms...

the girls were chatting amongst themselves.

Qiqi : Which county have you come from?

Shanaya : I've come from India.

Wanwan : OMG! you came from India! I've been there and it's awesome.

Jinling : Shanaya you have to tell us stories about your school in India.

Shanaya : Of course, of course. Now let's go before we are late.

All of them reached the gym where they met the boys. The girls and boys played separately. Today the girls were playing basketball whereas the boys played football. The girls made their way to the basketball court and split into two teams. Wanwan and Jinling were in one team and Qiqi and Shanaya were in another. The game started and Shanaya got hold of the ball. She sprinted and three the ball into the hoop before anyone could react. Everyone stood there dumbfounded and looked at Shanaya speechlessly. Shanaya looked at all of them, waved her hand and said, " Let's continue the game." Qiqi snapped back to reality and cheered " Yes, yes let's win the game today!"

The game ended with a terrifying Victory for Shanaya's team. The teacher was shocked. She asked if Shanaya wanted to join the Basketball team. Shanaya agreed and said she would participate in the tryouts. The teacher told her, "The tryouts are at 6:30 am tomorrow morning. Please come on time." Shanaya nodded and then all of them took a shower.

Wanwan said " You are amazing ! The teacher personally came to ask you to come to the tryouts!"

Jinling: "Remind me never to be against you in Gym class"

Shanaya:" Come on, I can't compare to most people out there. At most I'm above average. All of you can become this good. I'll teach you next time."

Qiqi:"Sure ! Cant wait for it!"

Then they met up with the guys outside. Qiqi enthusiastically recited the story of Shanaya the great basketball player to the boys. The did not believe her and looked to Jinling and Wanwan for confirming. When the nodded, the boys could only look at Shanaya speechlessly.

Shanaya said, "Okay, okay enough. As today is my first day I will treat you all to a meal in the restaurant. All that playing has made me hungry. " They immediately agreed and decided on a restaurant. Shanaya went to the side to call her father and inform him. Vikram Rathore picked up the call and answered, "Shanaya what's up?" She asked him, "Papa I made new friends. Could I treat them to a meal in the restaurant?" He replied, " sure! Just make sure to send me the details of the place you are eating at. Now I have work to do and money to earn. See you."

The group of friends went to a restaurant nearby called PASTACIUTTA. What Shanaya did not know was that a certain someone was waiting for her to go back home. Yifeng only heard from his father after waiting for ten minutes that Shanaya would be going out to eat with her friends. he thought to himself ' How dare that insolent girl make me Lu Yifeng wait.' He angrily went back home grumbling the whole time.

He went home and was in a very bad mood. He tried to calm down but it was too no avail. Although he did not tell her that he would be picking her up and to top it all he gave her a lot of attitude, she should not be able to make him wait. He would have her pay!
