Chapter 009: Eating Meat

The kick from Yusu was quite effective, and from then on, the journey was free of any complaints.

Led by Yufeng, the team entered the mountains, planning to cross two entire peaks for today's hunting. Yesterday, they discovered the traces of a wild boar and had mapped out its approximate range of movement. Today, the goal was to capture it.

Yusu hadn't smelled the scent of fresh meat for several days, so hearing about the wild boar made him involuntarily swallow saliva.

Yuda glared fiercely at him, "We found this wild boar, don't think you can take advantage."

Ignoring Yuda, Yusu knew that if he hunted the boar, he would have to share it. Yet, if Yuda dared to cause trouble, Yusu was ready to confront him. No one would stop him from eating meat.

After a challenging two-hour wait, they finally spotted the wild boar foraging.

"Hum, hum." The boar grunted as it obliviously enjoyed the berries in the bushes, completely unaware it was being watched.

The boar was large and plump, much bigger than the pigs of later generations. Yusu's eyes scanned every part of the boar, planning how to enjoy each section.

The shoulder meat was tender and fragrant, perfect for frying; the loin had less fat, ideal for stir-frying. There was also belly meat, front leg, hind leg, neck meat, and even the brain, each with its unique flavor. Just thinking about it made Yusu salivate.

Though the wild boar's meat during this low spiritual energy period might be somewhat gamey, living in an area rich in spiritual energy and consuming berries, tender leaves, and roots all year should eliminate most unpleasant flavors.

"Gurgle." Yusu's stomach grumbled.

Not just Yusu, but the entire hunting team couldn't help but stare at the wild boar with hungry eyes. Everyone remained motionless until Yufeng gave the signal to move.

Yusu ran forward, faster than anyone else.

No joke, with such a large pig, if he didn't run fast, what if it ran away?

Suddenly surrounded, the panicked boar began to dash around. Its strength was formidable, and two sharp tusks were exposed. If not careful, one could end up with a hole.

Even experienced hunters dared not confront it head-on, instead using their spears from both sides.

In the chaos, someone accidentally pushed Yusu forward. He found himself face to face with the boar.

Yusu cursed silently but remained calm. Employing the agile footwork learned from martial arts, he dodged the boar's attacks and, as it turned towards his back, delivered a forceful kick.

The boar whimpered and was kicked over.

Immediately, Yusu raised the spear in his hand, aiming at the boar's weak spot, and thrust it down with force.

He exerted full strength, causing the boar to scream again.

Others rushed over.

Yusu pulled out the spear, and the blood splattered on him.

He lifted his head, glancing coldly at Yuda. The one who pushed him was undoubtedly Yuda.

Covered in blood and with an icy gaze, Yusu made it clear he wouldn't let it go. However, he wouldn't tell Yufeng. Without evidence and considering Yuda's relationship with Yufeng, it would only be futile.

Yufeng praised Yusu, "Thanks to you, we captured the wild boar so quickly."

Yusu modestly smiled, "Can I get a bit more for this?"

Yufeng hesitated but agreed, "Sure."

Though others weren't pleased, witnessing Yusu's tremendous effort, they remained silent. The only dissenter was Yuda, who found it unfair.

Yufeng sternly addressed him, "If you can kick the boar over, I'll give you more. Can you do that?"

Yuda was speechless. Of course, he couldn't. So, he glared at Yusu resentfully.

The hunting team returned to the village earlier than usual, and the boar was butchered at Yufeng's home.

Yusu got the largest share. Observing they didn't intend to process the pig intestines, he asked Yufeng for that part too.

"Sure, but these aren't edible. What are you going to do with them?" Yufeng asked.

Yusu smiled mysteriously, "These are precious."

By now, it was almost noon, and Yuzhou and Jiayun must be hungry. Yusu planned to make a meat soup, but first, he needed to bring water from the well. Water supply in the morning was limited, but now there should be enough.

Arriving near his house, Yusu saw Jiayun and his father waiting eagerly.

Yusu's expression softened involuntarily, "I'm back."

Yuzhou ran over, and Yusu showed him the meat, "We're having meat today."

Yuzu's eyes lit up, looking at Yusu with anticipation.

After putting down the meat, Yusu washed his hands and filled a pot with water. Igniting a fire with flint and dry grass, he began processing the meat.

Once done, he put the pieces into a pot. Yusu then picked some dried herbs, adding them to the pot. Without salt, the soup would only have the aroma of meat and herbs, but even so, the scent made Yuzhou and Jiayun impatient.

Yusu urged

them, "Eat!"

Simple, without any fancy flavorings, the bubbling meat soup spread a rich aroma, attracting Yuzhou and Jiayun to gather around. Jiayun even wanted to use his hands to grab a piece, but Yusu stopped him.

"Eat when it cools a bit."

"Hiss." Yuzhou, on the other hand, burned his tongue, and Yusu had to check his mouth. Fortunately, it wasn't too severe. He handed Yuzhou some cold water to soothe the pain.

Meanwhile, Jiayun was already savoring the meat, unwilling to spit it out even if it was hot.

Yusu could only shake his head.
