4 Soul Reavers

The three of them reappeared in a place of high altitude. Elle looked around. She was a bit disoriented due to the fact that it was her first time disappearing in a darkness portal.

"You could have at least warned me that you will teleport us." she said. Osiris paid her no heed.

She looked around and saw a familiar place.

"Hey this is the school rooftop. Why'd you bring us all the way back here?" she asked.

The death god then replied to her.

"It's just nostalgic. Let's just keep it at that." he replied to her.

She examined him. He did look different whilst he wore the outfit that was clad in black. Elle was still trying to wrap in her mind that he was a death god.

"I'm waiting." Elle said to him which indicated that she wanted to know everything.

Osiris sighed and breathed in and out. He looked at the direction of the pale moonlight. His aurum eyes stood out as usual as he walked towards the edge of the school rooftop.

"In our world, there are unexplained phenomena, but one thing is certain to happen." he started.

Elle listened. She could not stop looking at him.

"Death always comes. As you may have known by now, I carry the power to escort souls to their final resting place." Ozi said to her.

The death god conjured an object which he held on his right hand. It was his familiar lamp lit by his own blue flames.

"So, you are telling me… that you are the Grim Reaper?" she questioned him.

"Technically he is." the Raven on Ozi's shoulder replied. "One of them at least." he added.

Elle was befuddled with the statement.

"One of them?" she asked.

"There is a common misconception among mortals that the "Grim Reaper" or "Death" is a single entity that collects the souls of the departed. You know that people die every day so common sense would dictate that it is not a job that a sole entity can do." Osiris explained.

She continued to listen to him.

"Simply put, there are many Soul Reavers in the world." the Raven replied.

"I am one of the Reavers who is in charge of collecting souls in this part of the world." Osiris replied.

"Wait, wait. If you are only one of them, then does that mean that the guy you fought is also a Soul Reaver?" Elle asked him.

Osiris smirked.

"Cereb is not a Soul Reaver." he replied. "He certainly wishes to be but he is not." he added "It takes a special kind of talent to be one after all." he added as he smirked.

"That's a bit cocky even for you Osiris." the raven on his shoulder said.

Elle listened intently. She walked around the rooftop whilst the moon shone brightly in the night. Ozai was on the other edge of the rooftop with his back turned against her.

She looked at him, his facial expression was blank and bland. It was unlike when he was at school with her on an ordinary day. The death god has her curiosity quite piqued.

Osiris on the other hand just looked towards the moon. He then looked at his hands. The hands of one who has seen a lot of deaths.

"So why did you save me?" Elle finally asked him.

The death god remained silent. The raven on his shoulder observed his master's mannerisms deduced that he was not in the mood to answer her questions after all that she has explained.

"I mean." Elle walked close to him and she tucked a part of her hair behind her ear. "If it was my time that night then I would have accepted it." she said.

This took Osiris's attention and admittedly he had the facial expression of a person who was caught off guard.

"Strong words." the raven replied to her. "I mean hindsight makes humans a hundred percent braver than they usually are." he retorted.

Osiris chose to remain silent.

"The reason of me saving you is of no importance." Osiris replied after a few moments. "I am just tired of claiming souls of those who still have lives to live." he replied to her.

Elle looked towards him with her azure eyes. Even though he has such a demeanor she had a hunch that he may be a good person after all.

"It's getting late." Osiris said to her. "It might be best if I take you to your house." he added.

...

After a short while, a black portal emerged from the wall right around the corner of Elle's house.

Elle, Osiris and his raven walked out of such portal and afterwards the death god closed the portal.

"Well, this is my stop." the blonde girl said to the death god.

"It would be wise of you to watch yourself from now on." The raven on Ozi's shoulder said to her.

"Thanks for taking me home safely, Ozi." Elle said to him.

Osiris still did not reply to her and instead he conjured another portal and walked through it.
