1 The beggining

Year 1943, somewhere in an underground base.

Pew!

Pew!

Loud shots resounded through the area.

"Take the blueprint and run, John, I will stall them" spoke a man from the side.

"No way, I will never leave you alone!!" replied a young man crouching on the floor.

"Your wife and kids are waiting for you, dumb-ass!!" the man yelled, ignoring the constant shots from afar.

Hearing the man's words John silenced, remembering his sweet wife and adorable kids. Caressing his forehead in anxiety, John's expression turned firm until he finally resolved his mind.

"You will always be remembered as a hero, Sergeant Kevin" John stated with somewhat gloomy eyes.

"Just don't cry, snowflake"

With this sentence, Kevin went ahead, not bothering to say goodbye. John's expression only worsened at the sight of the disappearing figure as he unwillingly stood up. Knowing his character, John left without any formalities, bequeathing his sole friend in the hands of fate. However, a few tears still dropped on the cold ground.

'What a kid' Kevin thought, taking a few hidden grenades from his pocket.

Pew!

Pew!

'They sure run fast' Kevin thought while a small smile formed on his face.

He quickly unsheathed a grenade, throwing it straight ahead. The incoming soldiers didn't expect someone hiding in front as they got destroyed by the shockwave.

Kevin himself got some insignificant injuries as he wasn't that far, but it didn't change the determined face. He unlocked another two grenades and threw them again.

The remaining officers tried dodging sideways, but fire engulfed them, killing them immediately.

Countless burned bodies lay scattered on the ground as Kevin was looking at this scene from a distance. He promptly squatted down to the ground next to the dead bodies.

"Quickly!!"

Melodious incoming steps resounded through the area, but Kevin didn't move. He just lifelessly deposited on the ground, pretending to be dead.

'Only one grenade left' he thought while taking a weak grip of the gun which was hidden under the clothes.

"What the hell happened here?" a person armed with a heavy rifle asked nervously.

"It doesn't matter, we have to ..."

Before the soldier could form a sentence, Kevin promptly stood up and shot him in the head. Alarmed, the other officers pointed their rifles at the source of the noise, but, to their surprise, there was nothing in sight.

Tap!

Tap!

A strange din was heard from below. Everyone quickly looked down, but what they saw brought sweat to their foreheads.

A grenade.

"DODGE"

BOOM!

Once again the fire overwhelmed, destroying everything on its path. Kevin used a dead body as a meat shield but still sustained some minor burns. His breathing became unstable and weak due to the high blood loss.

"No more grenades..." he said weakly, already suspecting his grisly end.

'Well, John has probably already left....at least some good news' he thought, looking around.

The enemies had already surrounded Kevin, leaving no sign of escape. One of them pushed his way into the circle, holding a small one-handed pistol.

'So that's the leader,' Kevin thought, forcing himself to tighten his grip around the concealed weapon.

"You have nowhere to go," the person spoke seriously, "Give the blueprint back"

'The blueprint...huh,' Kevin thought involuntarily, remembering their mission.

That was the reason why the two of them had to sneak into the enemy base. A few days ago, the US headquarters had received information about the construction of a new nuclear weapon of mass destruction in Italy, so they decided to send two veteran soldiers specializing in assassinations to steal the design. Kevin knew it was just a suicide mission, but he decided to follow the orders anyway.

"Do I look like I have it?" asked Kevin in a sarcastic tone.

Veins popped out of the leader's forehead as he gritted his teeth in anger.

"Check the entire base," he said sternly before looking at the pale Kevin, "Capture him."

After the order was given, two more soldiers pushed their way into the circle and walked right up to Kevin as they pointed their rifles directly at his head.

Kevin didn't seem nervous at all, on the contrary, he was relaxed. His unconcerned composure raised several questions from the soldiers.

"Hey, what's your name?" Kevin spoke with a slight smile, referring to the leader of the base.

The incoming soldiers stopped, slightly confused. They had encountered many madmen in their lives, but none had such nerve.

The leader didn't even bother to answer and just waved his hand, signaling to move on.

'Well, I don't care either,' Kevin thought before pulling out the small pistol with incredible speed.

He aimed it at the leader's head and fired two continuous shots. Everyone immediately shot back at Kevin, trying to stop him, but it was too late.

Kevin and the base leader fell to the ground at the same time while their expressions turned pale.

Many screams could be heard from the surroundings, but Kevin didn't care anymore... because he knew his time had come.

'I guess my life wasn't so bad,' Kevin thought before closing his eyes and falling into eternal sleep.

Strangely, all the pain disappeared when Kevin tried to open his eyes, but to his surprise, there was only endless darkness around him.

Kevin attempted to move his body, but couldn't as if he had never had one.

After a few moments of struggling, Kevin finally saw a change in the surroundings. An incredible light shone brightly, calling Kevin ahead.

Kevin didn't mind and went forward, but suddenly he felt a sharp pain coming from his cheek as if he was....slapped?

Kevin reopened his eyes and saw a strange woman standing in front of him. Not exactly strange... she was just incomparably beautiful. Kevin had never seen such a goddess, round, bluish eyes that matched her delicate face and a pair of sweet lips. A model's body that curled in just the right places and smooth, dark hair that fell on her shoulders. The only way to describe her was....perfect.

Kevin stared at her for a few moments until noticing her face becoming redder.

"I'm sorry Kevin, I shouldn't have slapped you, I'm not ready yet" she said in a guilty voice.

'Kevin? How does she know my name? I don't recall meeting her,' Kevin thought as he looked around.

He was currently in a somewhat strange room....or maybe it's a lab?

Kevin had never seen such a peculiar place, it gave off a sense of modernity, but what caught his attention the most was a huge black mirror stuck to the wall.

"Kevin, are you okay? Did I slap you that hard?" a faint voice reached Kevin's ears as he felt two soft hands on his shoulder.

Kevin turned to face the beauty once again and saw two worried eyes in front of him.

He tried to reassure her, but a sudden headache overwhelmed him.

Kevin put his hand on the head, hoping to ease the discomfort, but instead, it increased.

Due to an incredible abruptness, he fainted, still hearing the loud screams of the gorgeous lady.
