4 Improvement

The training was usually divided into three phases.

The first was simple, general strength. All one had to do was concentrate their mana inside their hand and hit the machine.

The second phase was combat training, where one could not use the god's power and only had to rely on combat.

The last was god power training, where you just fought by all means until the opponent surrenders or faints.

Kevin has always only participated in the first and second training because he didn't have the god power.

It would be too dangerous for him.

The arena was stationed underground the school, which once again showed the improvement in technology.

Kevin was quite excited about the upcoming training as he wanted to test how far the power was between his Human 1 level and the higher ones.

He knew for a fact that he would be fighting against the higher level because he....was the only one who hadn't made a breakthrough yet.

It was quite discouraging for him since he trained really hard every day, but there was no improvement.

Well, at least he has a system now.

"Kevin, I'll heal you after practice," Sophia spoke as she put her arm around Kevin.

"Hahaha," he let out a wry smile, scowling even more as she already looked at him as the one who loses.

Sophia's divine art was healing, and that was why she was so highly regarded by the school. She also had an incredible talent in cultivation, which made her even more valuable.

She wasn't the best at fighting, but she was still considered the next strongest person in the class, right next to Martin.

After all, it's not easy to defeat someone with a higher level even if your technique is better, but of course, a stronger god power is always a huge advantage.

"Alright, who wants to start?" the teacher spoke loudly as they narrowed the distance to the third arena.

There were four other arenas stationed around the area which were currently occupied by other teachers with their students.

Kevin looked around at the students from the other classes, sometimes catching a few glances directed at him.

Well, not at him, but rather at Sophia, who was gripping Kevin's hand tightly.

'Are they jealous of me?' Kevin thought but was interrupted by the teacher.

"So who wants to begin?" he said, pointing at the strange-looking device. It looked like a boxing bulb, except it was made of metal.

"I'll start" Sophia spoke as she let Kevin's hand hang.

She quickly closed the distance between her and the machine. After standing still for a few minutes, she finally struck the alloy.

*Boom*

A strong vibration shook the room as a number appeared on the screen.

[54]

Everyone stood still looking at the number in amazement, even students from other training grounds turned their glances at her.

"It seems that you have improved once again," the teacher said with a wide smile, "a week ago you were at 52"

"Thank you teacher," she replied once again going back into the crowd.

This machine can calculate a person's punch strength and goes as follows:

[10-19= 1 Human stage]

[20-29= 2 Human stage]

.

.

.

[90-99= 9 Human stage]

Of course, in a real fight, whether you are victorious or not depends on your wits, and how you use your divine art and power.

Sophia squeezed Kevin's hand once again, forcing him to catch many envious glances.

Time passed as more and more students tested their strength until finally, it was Kevin's turn.

Some classmates snickered a little, already anticipating his pitiful result, but it didn't bother him in the slightest. He was 43 years old in total, after all, he wouldn't get mad if a few immature kids laughed.

"Kevin, your score last time was...12," the teacher spoke with a somewhat guilty expression as if he was responsible for it.

'It seems our teacher is really kind-hearted,' Kevin thought before stepping forward, right next to the machine.

'I need to focus on the mana in my body and transfer it to my hand.

Kevin tried to feel anything unusual in his body until he finally felt warm energy next to his heart.

He concentrated and let the energy flow into his right hand.

Power surged, the adrenaline rose, as a smile appeared on his face.

'This feeling....it's so addictive'

With this thought, he punched the machine as a light thud was heard.

[16]

"What?"

"16?"

"Has he improved that much in a week?"

'Maybe because I have a system? Or because of better control?'

"Congratulations Kevin, it seems you are on the right track," the teacher spoke with a smile, "Keep up the good work!"

"Thank you, Professor," Kevin spoke as he walked towards his classmates. He saw different kinds of emotions on their faces: some were shocked, some were determined, some were ... envious.

Except for Sophia, she seemed excited as she squeezed through the crowd and hugged Kevin tightly.

"Congratulations!" she said, hugging Kevin even tighter.

His face grew paler by the second until he couldn't even breathe.

"Le-let me...go," Kevin groaned with difficulty.

"Oh, I'm sorry, haha," she spoke sweetly, but suddenly became serious, "But how did you do that? I hope you're not doing anything illegal"

'Does she think I have enough time to do something like that?'

However, just as Kevin was about to reply, a loud tremor echoed through the surroundings.

Kevin turned his head in the direction of the sound and saw [57] written in large letters on the screen.

A handsome golden-haired boy stood proudly in front of the machine.

"Did he absorb a soul crystal?"

"I heard his family was rich, but to such an extent?"

"He was only at the fourth level of human a week ago, so how much money did he spend?"

Kevin delved into his thoughts finally understanding how valuable the soul crystals were. Improving a human's level in a week isn't an easy feat, but with a soul crystal, it's possible.

"It seems that you have absorbed a soul crystal, Martin," spoke the teacher looking at the handsome boy, "The mana in your body is currently unstable, you shouldn't participate in combat training today as you might unintentionally hurt someone."

"Yes, teacher," he replied humbly.

Kevin really liked this aspect of his, even if he was the strongest in the class, he still respected others.

*Clap*

*Clap*

Loud clapping reached the third arena as an old man appeared in the middle of the arena. No one could notice how he was already standing in front of the class. Even the teacher was impressed by this speed, but when he saw the person's face, he let out an understanding sigh.

It was the headmaster, an old man with a neat beard and gray hair. He also was pretty tall, causing him to really stand out. Kevin was very impressed by his momentum as his gaze sharpened.

'One day I'll be that strong too'

"Good morning, my name is Oda Nao, the principal of Horishima's school, I heard about an incredible jump in your class" he spoke in a resolute voice "so I decided to make an event"

He extended one of his hands forward as three crystals appeared floating in his palm. Everyone stood in awe as the other classes grew greedier by the second.

'Does he have the power to control space?" asked Kevin in his mind, but pushed it aside and focused on Oda's speech.

"These three crystals are from a fifth-level human beast, and I'm going to give them to the top three people in your class."

Shock spread through the surroundings, even the teacher was surprised as this was the first time something like this happened.

Kevin had controversial emotions on this issue, although he is only in the first level of human, he still has more than 20 years of experience in fighting, so there might be a slight chance of winning a few fights.

"Can we use our god's power?" Sophia asked, extending her hand in the air.

"No, this is a test of your fighting skills," he replied with a serious tone.

The response made most of the students saddened while Sophia, on the other hand, got excited. She clearly had an advantage in this regard, precisely because she was physically stronger.

"Alright then, follow me," he said while turning around, signaling others to move.

No one objected and followed the headmaster with a determined look. Except for Martin, who stood in place with a complicated expression on his face.

He had used all his savings to buy a fourth-level soul crystal, and now such an event was thrown? What kind of luck is this?

If he were to participate, he would surely get first or second place, but now he can't because he absorbed a soul crystal...

But what angered him the most was that the quality of the crystal was even better than the one he had consumed.

Kevin saw his annoyed expression, but he didn't care and just kept walking.

After all, it was none of his business.

'What I need to worry about is how to get my hands on the crystal'
