13 God's Arena

"Even though the view was unforgettable, the distance is too far," Kevin exclaimed as he opened the door to his apartment. It took him about thirty minutes to walk back, and it was pure hell, he was drenched in sweat, causing the t-shirt to become transparent.

Because of that, he earned so many leering and envious looks from the townspeople that it made him want to puke.

Oh well, at least he's back home now.

Kevin exhaled deeply and went to take a cold shower. It was refreshing, he was instantly full of energy, as if after a long sleep.

"No matter how bad times are, a shower is still the best," Kevin muttered to himself before putting on a dark hoodie that matched his brown leggings.

He looked around before stopping his gaze on the vent, where his equipment was hidden.

Kevin took out the black sword and looked at it as if he was meeting the lost friend. He lightly tapped the end of the blade checking its sharpness once again.

"I'm so lucky to get my hands on you," Kevin trumpeted while he put the sword back in its sheath and laid it on the bed.

Kevin took out his phone typing [God's Arena] into the network.

What is [God's Arena]?

Well, Kevin isn't sure himself. He saw a poster on the way back from the hill which stated something about making money through duels, but since it was slightly ripped, he couldn't understand the whole content.

However, earning money through fighting would be the best option for Kevin since he didn't have any profitable talents other than fighting.

The [Gods Arena] had an interesting interface, it was completely black with white text, which made it kind of creepy, but that just made Kevin more interested as he read through it.

After a careful analysis of the [God's Arena], he leaned backward on the bed. A wide grin curled on his face as he stored the newly gained information in his brain.

[God's arena] was truly the best and probably the only way for Kevin to earn money other than by killing Magical Beasts, but he doesn't really want to go hunting until that ape is annihilated.

[God's arena] can basically be called a tower, since it's divided into 10 levels. The higher the level, the more money you get.

How do you climb the levels? It's simple: you have to win 10 fights in a row and you climb up one floor. Since the fights are broadcasted around the town live, [God's arena] gets a bunch of money which they distribute to the fighters for each match.

Of course, the income is different on every floor, with the lowest income being on the first floor. Few people watch your fight, meaning the share of the money you get is tiny, too.

But Kevin is motivated to try it out since one of the top rankers has stated in a forum that he earns 10-100 gold coins for a fight. With such money, Kevin could probably pay off the equipment debt in a matter of days.

The fights are also mostly on the safe side because referees and healers are always dispatched for every battle, whether it's a newbie or a senior.

This is mainly because humanity doesn't want to lose any talented individuals in conflicts between consonants. After all, magical beasts and demons are still a compelling threat to humanity.

"It's my time to shine," Kevin thought as he put on his bracelet and picked up the sword, "This is the beginning of my path to becoming a rich husband."

Kevin laughed in his head while closing the door to leave.

[God's Arena] was located in a southern part of the city, which meant Kevin wasn't far from it. Kevin began to slowly walk towards the south as he looked around curiously.

Even though he lived in this town, he didn't really leave the house because of his messed-up personality. He just followed the usual rut of going to school and back.

So Kevin was here for the first time, and he immediately noticed the difference between the South and other parts.

It was just too crowded. There were so many people that Kevin had to squeeze through to even be able to proceed.

The southern part also had a huge market that was in the middle of it.

It consisted of countless people selling various things, there was everything you could want, food, clothes, drinks, everything.

That's also the reason why it is the most populated area in Hiroshima.

Kevin was slowly advancing towards God's Arena, squeezing through the infinite number of people.

'I should have taken a different route,' Kevin thought as he looked around for possible ways to escape this hell.

However, a sudden, unintentional bump from behind pushed him forward, causing even more people to collide. Kevin couldn't even see who it was because there were just too many people.

Kevin, no longer able to control himself, rose into the air and leaped over the crowd.

He landed next to yet another workshop and exhaled in relief as he looked at the shop on the side. This time, however, the contents lying on the table managed to pique his interest.

"How much for this mask?" asked Kevin asked while pointing towards the white mask with a light splash of red paint on it.

"Five bronze coins," the old man behind the table stated as he scratched his beard.

"1" Kevin countered, thinking it was an unreasonable price.

"3"

"1"

"2 is my final offer, young man"

"Alright then, goodbye," Kevin said before walking away with a firm stride.

"Wai-wait, deal"

"Sure" Kevin beamed with a smile as he suddenly walked back to the man. He took out a bronze coin placing it on the table while taking the mask with the other.

"Thank you for the purchase," the old man stated, waving his hand at Kevin.

Kevin smiled at him before heading towards the arena once again, but this time avoiding the large groups of people.

He bought this mask for a reason, he didn't want his face to be broadcasted throughout the entire town. After all, Sophia would simply have a heart attack if she ever saw him live in a fight.

Kevin also wants to cover his face because it's already annoying to catch those lustful looks from women.

And most importantly, Kevin doesn't want his opponents to hold back after seeing that he's a kid because it's not only a way to make money but also a way to hone his combat skills.

'I was lucky to stumble upon this old man's shop, even though he was greedy,' Kevin thought while looking around.

Finally, he reached his destination. The Gods Arena didn't actually look like an arena at all. It was just a modern building with transparent windows on all sides that allowed Kevin to see the insides of it.

There were numerous men and women with various, strange dresses inside, chatting happily. Although they looked vulnerable, the good-quality weapons and deep scars on their bodies shifted Kevin's thoughts.

Kevin put on the newly purchased mask which made him look like someone from the snow age, paired with his pale hair.

There weren't any rules stating that masks were forbidden, in fact, there are some warriors at the top who conceal their faces.

However, most do not, as there is no actual reason for them to hide.

Kevin pushed the glass door slightly and walked forward. Immediately, everyone's gazes locked on the newcomer.

Kevin looked around awkwardly, wondering what does he have to do now.

After all, there was no information on how to participate in God's Tower, only that one had to register in the main building.

Kevin stood on the spot as the atmosphere around him grew more uncomfortable by the second.

"Are you a newcomer? My name is Clive Holmes, it's nice to meet you," a man suddenly spoke, walking forward, "It seems the receptionist is busy at the moment, so you'll have to wait a bit."

Kevin eyed the man instantly noticing the size difference. Clive was a muscular, bulky man, at least twice Kevin's height, he had precise features with a deep cut across his face and short-cropped brown hair.

Honestly, Clive was comparable to some kind of titan who had just returned from war.

"I'm Kevin, it is nice to meet you too," Kevin replied with a smile while extending his hand for a greeting.

Clive smiled back as he tried to shake Kevin's hand, which was actually hard to do since Clive's hand was twice if not three times bigger.

"Clive, I finally found you," a woman suddenly spoke from behind him. Kevin felt the voice was somehow familiar as he looked at the person behind the colossal Clive's body.

'It's that girl,' Kevin said in his head, eyeing the woman with the revealing clothes once again. It was the lady who had saved him from turning into dust, the person who had saved his life.

"Sorry Kate, I had to help this newbie," Clive replied while looking at Kevin with a smile from above.

"A newbie?" said Kate while she closed the distance between her and Kevin.

*Sniff*

*Sniff*

Suddenly, she leaned closer to Kevin, making him wonder what the hell was going on.

"Aren't you the dumbass who tried to jump over the wall?"

"Ehhh?"
