The Experiment

Jeremy passed out on the floor soon after his body felt a heavier sensation and mind went lighter. The whole apartment had activity sensors and the carpeted floor turned comfortable.

His body shone bright from various places whereas it felt as if his skin had been turned into shiny scales. And every of it started to glow which in fact were chips in his body but this time the pain was excruciating.

The whole apartment became glum and silent after the death guy was gone but a camera turned towards unconscious Jeremy.

●Somewhere unknown●

"Is he doing fine?"

A man demanded the answer from the jury who had been sitting in front of the screens.

"Y- yes sir, he is breathing although due to the shock the pulse rate is now shallow."

A person concluded after seeing the graph on the screen and turned his head to inform the chief.

"Good. He should not die at any cost, we don't have any other subject who's more competent than him."

The chief gave a satisfactory expression upon Jeremy's safety.

"Yes, chief. We are doing our best to make sure he is working effectively."

The jury responded in unison and resumed their spying on Jeremy.

But no doubt they all sounded if the topic of their conversation was not a man but a machine!

"Mm. Forward him the next information."

Yes, that's the type of change Jeremy had been talking about.

The detective had kept it a secret from others and struggled to keep himself sane wherever he felt the 'change.' Jeremy felt himself fainting each time he was given the information, the chip in his wrist made it sure that he receive it without obstruction.

"Immediately, sir!"

The one employed to do the task imminently glued his eyes on the screen.

Jeremy's left wrist shone and instead of veins some blue wiring shined brightly in the upper thin layer of the skin.

The information about the killer was transferred to him within the advanced system he had within his body. It was more like a computer screen embedded in his left arm and the information gathered by the agency was forwarded to Jeremy.

Whenever he was provided with the clues for any particular case Jeremy could feel himself on the verge of collapsing. The agency had the access to his system and the mind, Jeremy was under their surveillance all the time.

'We have to manipulate him to do the task imminently, the anonymous killer is getting out of the hands.'

The chief who stood in the middle of the room with more than twenty five employees, they were all appointed for only one person_Jeremy Grayson.

Who exactly was Jeremy? Or should I put it like this, what exactly was Jeremy Grayson?

The chief walked out of the hall and closed the door behind him, when he rattled out his glass phone and a visual appeared.

[Death guy: Any progress?]

The same guy who had contacted Jeremy in his apartment was now talking to the chief.

It was evident that they had some connection and their sole target was Jeremy. Or perhaps they could be Jeremy's possible future suspects.

"Yes, boss. He is absolutely fine despite the new wave and probably will be working from tomorrow."

The chief narrated the results to the mysterious boss.

No doubt everything was indeed suspicious and it seemed as if they all had been doing some experiments on Jeremy.

[Death guy: "....."]

The man didn't say anything and hung up while the chief scoffed at the rude response.

"What exactly is the problem of this guy?"

He had been working with the anonymous man known only as death guy to the agency for over six years by now.

None of the employees had any idea about what exactly was that agency or whatever they had been doing was right or wrong.

All the comrades were never allowed to question anything and no one had the audacity, considering that one employee had already been beheaded for disobedience.

After all who would dare to question when they had been given a handsome sum, big enough to keep their mouths shut.

Although the citizens believed that the agency worked like the CIA but super secretive and had their own labs to generate advanced weapons.

But no one really knew how true it was.

Meanwhile on the other hand Jeremy finally gained some consciousness and tried to lift himself from the ground.

"Fuck! This was worse than previous ones."

He whispered not being able to count now how many times he had met that death guy.

The wits and skills he was known for were provided to Jeremy by the organization and it helped him to solve the cases.

The so-called earned fame was hollow and Jeremy himself had no idea how he was able to know that secret information about the criminals.

He thought it was the work of his mind but later on he figured out it had something to do with the emergence of the death guy.

But Jeremy Grayson wasn't able to detect or find anything about him anywhere and concluded it was his subconscious mind playing tricks.

"Hah!"

He gasped and plopped on the sofa then rolled his sleeve only to see that the saying caused by the burn had vanished.

His human cells had been modified to heal quickly thus Jeremy never had a problem to hide the burns.

"Let's see what it is now."

He straightened his arm and was confident that something useful must have been delivered to his mind. Jeremy knew that the information and his fainting was definitely not normal, but he never questioned anything because it didn't harm him.

No wonder he left his search about the death guy because the results he gained after collapsing each time were impeccable. And everything had been going in his favor thus he never complained, or bothered to think much.

He tapped on his wrist in a certain manner and a blue see through screen popped up with numerous options to select.

Whereas the people on the other side of the spectrum were watching Jeremy Grayson doing stuff with eager and enthusiasm.

But no one knew what was brewing in his mind!
