3 Neflin

I looked at Katherine, who was leisurely sitting on my couch in the living room.

She had the proportions of a flat-chested girl you see in most anime. She was blonde, and she had yellow eyes. This girl may be pretty, but not as pretty as Asami.

Why am I having perverted thoughts? I've never been like this before.

Inside the envelope were a letter and a ticket. I placed the ticket on the table and read the letter.

[Dear Neo Bakuhatsu,

I am sure that you were just attacked by a manticore a while ago, so I sent my assassin, Katherine, to save you. Don't question how I know you were just attacked.

I will repeat this, you are not human but a daemon. Newly emerged daemons like you will be hunted down by these monsters, like the manticore.

At 10:30 pm, the saint association will bring you to Tokyo harbors where a boat will be waiting for you. Hand the ticket over to the captain and he will bring you to Neflin. Katherine will be your bodyguard until you arrive.

Sincerely,

Asami Hikaru.]

I scratch my head.

Neflin? Daemon? Manticore? Saint association... well, I heard that before.

The saint association is an international company that manufactures and sells top tier supercars.

I looked at the ticket. It also had the same-looking symbol that the envelope had.

"It's 12:00 am. We will hide here for now."

Katherine said as she juggled her daggers.

As pretty as she is, she is dangerous. Slaying that... manticore like a maniac, but I'm glad she did.

If she didn't, I would be dead by now.

Since the manticore is dead, who the hell will clean the mess on my roof?!

I looked over at Katherine, who notices my gaze.

"Don't worry, a manticore will turn into dust 30 minutes after their death."

She says as if she read my mind.

"What about the blood?"

Katherine looks the other way.

"The blood doesn't go away."

Well that sucks, looks like I'm going to have to clean it up.

***

I slept on the couch for the rest of the afternoon; I wasn't going to sleep in a room reeking of the smell of a dead manticore.

Katherine had explained to me what a Daemon was. So it looks like I'm a resurrected human chosen to possess the power of a legend from another world.

Who knew there was another world? I didn't.

I grabbed my phone off the coffee table. It was 10:00 pm. From my house to Tokyo harbor, it's roughly about 20 minutes.

"We should get going now."

Katherine sat as she opened up the front door. I looked out of my door and a black car was parked in front of my gate.

I exited my house and walked towards the car. I turned around and looked at my house.

Man, I'm going to miss this place... not really.

My life kinda sucked. Being adopted by 6 families and getting discarded by them. I lost all trust for Bobby.

Heck, I don't even want to state his name. His stupid face just fills me with rage.

"So what will happen now?"

I asked Katherine as I looked at my house.

"The house belongs to the saint association now, they'll innovate it and it'll become a Safehouse for newly emerged daemons in Tokyo."

Safehouse?

"You are the first daemon to appear in Tokyo. So we didn't plan on making one here until now."

The saint association must be rich. Well, they do sell supercars and their brand name has become an international sensation.

I always wanted to ride one.

Tokyo was the only place I know, I kinda didn't want to leave. Going to an unknown place I don't know anyone is just... scary.

"What are you waiting for? Do you really want to stay here?"

Katherine said.

I swear, she's reading my mind.

***

It's 10:30, and we arrived at Tokyo harbor.

I got out of the car, looking around. There was supposed to be a boat somewhere, but no boat was in sight.

"Over here."

Katherine said as she waved me over to her.

As we walked around the corner of the warehouse, there was a small yacht parked in the water.

The yacht was painted black, so it blended with the dark water.

Katherine placed her thumb and index finger in her mouth and whistled.

The captain or that's what I think he is. The captain had a black cowboy hat and a long black coat, this wasn't normal attire for a boat captain.

The captain drove the boat closer to us and we hopped on.

Katherine handed him a ticket similar to mine, and I followed.

He took them. Then opened up a hatch and deposited them.

Then we drove off into the pacific ocean.

***

I didn't know how long we've been cruising for, but it's been a long time.

So I didn't mention this but...

I have motion sickness.

I leaned over the ledge and felt like throwing up. Katherine tried her best to comfort me as she once had motion sickness.

"A-Are We There Yet?"

I asked her. We've been traveling for an hour now.

"Almost there."

Almost there... sure...

A few minutes later, my motion sickness hasn't gone away.

"We're here."

Katherine says as she patted my back.

I lifted my head up and examined the area. Still no land in sight.

"I see nothing. Can you actually tell me when we're there?"

Oh, I feel like throwing up again.

"We are."

Katherine grabbed my arm and lifts me up. Damn, she's strong for a girl shorter and thinner than me. Well, maybe it's because I don't have any muscles.

I feel embarrassed now...

Ding!

Huh? What was that sound?

I looked up. It looks like we entered some kind of force field.

Katherine pointed forward, and I looked.

In the distance, there was an island in view. It wasn't just any island, though.

It had buildings, towers, all that.

Heck, this place was as big as Japan. Why hasn't anyone found this place yet?

I asked Katherine, and she says that an ancient magic barrier circles around this island and that we can only enter it if we had the ticket.

I guess that's the use of the ticket I gave earlier.

We'd finally arrive at Neflin.

I got off the boat and my motion sickness went away, though I still felt ill as an urge to puke runs through my body.

I'd follow Katherine out of the port.

As we exited, a white supercar was waiting right there, just for us. I looked at the car emblem to see what car it was. Turns out this is a Saint supercar. I've never seen one up close before. The car doors even lifted upward instead of sideways.

Sick.

Vroom!

The car blasted an insane amount of heat. Smoke came out of the exhaust. It was weird cause the smoke wasn't gray or white. It was red.

Was that normal?

Anywho, it was very cool.

I looked at the scenery, there were modern buildings and people wearing clothing brand everywhere.

"How did you guys get the materials to build this?"

I asked Katherine who was driving. Does she even have a license?

She said that the saint association sends agents to the outside world so they can rescue new or lost Daemons like me. The association also replicates the objects in the outside world so they can build Neflin in their image.

For food and materials, they get it from a different source. But she said it was classified information.

And for her car license, it looks like you're allowed to drive at 15 in Neflin.

Maybe I can get my license.

"First, we will stop at the nearest saint association building. We need to register your ID before we go any further."

Looks like the saint association is like Neflin's own government. For an island in the middle of the Pacific ocean and hidden from the rest of the world, it's conveniently organized.

***

Well, I finally got my Neflin ID.

Maybe I don't need my old ID anymore, but Katherine said that I can keep it since we're allowed to travel to the outside world, though we need special clearance for that.

Hmm, now that I compared my old ID with my Neflin ID, I can see some changes with my appearance. From my old ID, I used to have brown eyes. But in my Neflin ID, I have sharp blue eyes.

Katherine says that humans who have reincarnated into Daemons can undergo physical changes. That includes the body, hair, eyes, etc.

For me, it looks like only my eyes are the only ones that changed.

If only my skinny flabby arms were replaced with some muscles. Maybe even a six-pack!

Now that we've been driving for a long time, Neflin is significantly big.

If I were to guess, it be the size of Japan. This magic barrier must be enormous if it could hide an island like this.

After an hour's past, we were driving along a gigantic mountain. I asked where we were going and Katherine said we were going to Asami Hikaru's house. Why? Well, it looks like I'm going to temporarily be a servant.

The view was amazing, the vast ocean, the orange sunrise. This is looking great for me. In Tokyo, I never got to see a view like this.

***

The car stopped. We parked in front of this enormous gate which read, Hikaru Manor.

Miss Hikaru must be prosperous if her family name is written on this gate.

We were walking down this long path. I looked at the building that stood in front of me and couldn't believe my eyes.

This manor...

It's freaking huge!

I've never seen anything like this before. The front door was about the same size as the gate that I just walked through.

We entered the manor and my eyes lit up. It was even larger! There were staircases leading up to the other floors. If I were to guess, there were about 4 floors. How many servants does she have?

This is getting better and better. I can't wait to see what's next.
