29 “Scolding”

Shang Ying sat down in the car and used his phone on the way to try on the suits which was utterly useless because Ning Ning and Deng Deng were already married to each other. My mother thinks she's keeping up to the latest news but nope, Shang Ying thought to himself. When they arrived at the place, Shang Ying had to try on a number of suits. His mother chose so many suits for him to try on, and all were so expensive. As Shang Ying thought that he wouldn't be wearing the suit at all till it was his actual marriage day, he ended up choosing the least expensive suit out of all the ones his mother picked out for him.

His mother paid for the suit and they drove off. Shang Ying insisted that they drive him back to the hospital so he could continue working. His mother negotiated with Shang Ying, if he went for work that day, he must have lunch with Ning Ning the next day. I have no idea why she wants to make me have lunch with her tomorrow but oh well, I agreed either ways. He thought to himself.

-Skip to half an hour before dinner time-

Rui Xing wore a flower patterned dress she bought from Japan for dinner. Rui Ning just simply wore a shirt and shorts to his friend's house. Since they only had 1 car and they didn't wish to use their spare car, Rui Ning sent her to Poco Loco first before he went over to Shang Shen's house. Rui Xing's friends were all there already. She thought that she was late.

"I'm sorry I'm late!" She said.

"You're not late, we're just early, look at the time. It's only 6.45 pm," Wen Xi commented.

"Oh..."

Rui Xing took menus from the other tables for her friends to look at.

"By the way, y'all can choose either penne or fettuccine if you're eating pasta," Rui Xing stated.

"OK," they all replied.

After looking at the menu for awhile, they chose what they wanted. Rui Xing called a waitress over and she took down their orders. Yi Tian and Rui Xing both ordered the Fettuccine Carbonara, Wen Xi ordered the Penne Bolognese, Shang Ying ordered Aglio Olio and Li Nang ordered a Pepperoni pizza.

They waited patiently for their food to come. They chatted amongst themselves in threes or twos. Rui Xing sat next to Shang Ying so she started a conversation with him.

"So, are they married yet? Or do you have to marry her?"

"I didn't know they needed a witness in order for them to sign the marriage certificate so they called me and I rushed over from work. They managed to sign the papers. Nothing strange or anything till the officiant asked for a photograph with me. And of course, I agreed but inside, I was like 'HUH what?? Why does he want to take a picture with me??'," Shang Ying explained what had happened.

Li Nang was talking to Yi Tian and Wen Xi when he noticed Rui Xing talking to Shang Ying. He got real jealous that Rui Xing had paid more attention to him until he left the table. They five of them were shocked when he just suddenly left the table. Rui Xing and Shang Ying told Yi Tian and Wen Xi to stay at the table and the two chased after Li Nang.

"Li Nang..." Rui Xing called out.

"I'm sorry... Just leave me alone," Li Nang replied, not turning around to face her.

"No," Rui Xing disagreed. "Why did you just walk out of the restaurant like that? What happened? Are you OK? Tell us... we're your friends. We'll do our best to help you,"

"Help me? I don't think you can do that..."

"What do you mean?" Shang Ying answered for Rui Xing, which made Li Nang turn to face both of them.

"Isn't it really obvious? You won, Shang Ying," Li Nang spoke.

"Shang Ying, explain. What does he mean by YOU WON?" Rui Xing asked seriously.

"Well... because we both like you, as in more than just FRIENDS, not as BEST FRIENDS either, even more than that. So, we...we tried our best to get closer to you, hoping that we'd-"

"Hoping that we'd eventually get together," Rui Xing completed the sentence for him. "So what do you want me to do? Just because you like me doesn't mean I MUST like you back. Just because you're both cute and handsome, that doesn't mean that oh let's get together because you're good looking. Looks is not everything. Well, although that was how Yi Tian and Wen Xi got together, I'm not Wen Xi. If you don't like me for me, I don't think I'm the right one for you. Personality matters the most. I'm sorry but it's the truth and the truth hurts. I'm not just talking to Li Nang, I'm talking to you too, Shang Ying. I still like the both of you, just as friends, maybe even best friends, give me time. It'll take time to develop feelings."

After saying those words, Rui Xing walked back into the restaurant. Shang Ying and Li Nang walked back inside slowly. When they sat back down at their seats, their food had already arrived. They ate in silence until Wen Xi opened her mouth to ask, "What happened just now?"

"Nothing much," Shang Ying replied.

Wen Xi could tell that none of them wanted to talk so she nodded her head and kept her mouth shut. But, being a person that talks much, she couldn't help but whisper to Yi Tian a few minutes later.

"Yi Tian, do you think they're OK? They seem quiet and I mean REAL QUIET. They aren't talking."

"I think so, let them figure out their own problems on their own. They're already adults," Yi Tian whispered back.

Yi Tian and Wen Xi quickly finished up their food as they didn't want to be stuck here with their friends not talking to one another. They made up an excuse on having to catch a movie and ran out of the restaurant, leaving the trio there to finish their dinner and pay the bill.
