3 Chapter Two
It was a sunny day outside the sleeping girl's apartment. Her curtains moved swiftly as the wind blew ever so slightly, allowing the warm light to rest on her relaxed face. The warmth of the light danced gently over her face. Letting the girl know that morning has arrived. She open her eyes slowly letting it adjust to the brightness in the room. Yawning she sat up and smiled knowing that today holds new opportunities. You see today isn't just some normal day. No, today is the day her bestie was born. Mckayla finally turned 20. They had the day planned out from A to Z. Athena jumped out of bed, stretching her stiff limbs. She got dressed into a cute little sweetheart black and red dress with red flats. She never was a chick who liked high heels. She checked herself in the mirror before grabbing her keys and left the comfort of her home.
She entered her favourite café Anteiku. Seeing that Mckayla already chose a table to sit.
"Hey birthday girl~"
"Athena!~"
Mchayla practically jumped out of her seat engulfing the said girl in a deadly hug. They don't see each other much since Mckayla works and Athena does her ghoul like activities. Mckayla is unaware of Athena's ghoul side.
"Can I take your order please?"
A girl with purplish blue hair asked. Athena knew her as Touka. This café is here to not only serve coffee and goods but to help ghoul you can't stomach hunting humans.
"Two coffees please."
Mckayla replied with a smile on her face. Just then someone walked through the door, ringing the bell sitting patiently above the door. Athena knew Uta for they grew up together. She knew about his weirdly obsession of wanting to eat their other childhood friend Renji. They grown apart over the years since they've been living their own life's now. She heard that Uta opened up his own masked shop and that Renji sort of works here at Anteiku. She focused her attention back onto the birthday girl who was telling her about what's happening in her life.
"Athena, I'm getting married."
"WHAT?"
"Shhh.."
Mckayla giggled as almost everyone's attention was on them now. Athena didn't even care. She asked questions like, who is it? Are you sure? Why? and so many more.
Before leaving the café Athena walked up to the counter bumping Uta in the process.
"Sorry Uta~"
"Athena, still as beautiful as ever hey~"
She giggled and shook her head.
"Thanks your coffee truly is the best. Bye Uta~"
"Bye Athena~"
Athena giggled as Mckayla gave her those eyes and Wiggles her eyebrows.
"No its not what you think so stop"
Mckayla giggled and left it at that. The day went by smoothly. They stopped at some shops, brought some things, Had lunch, Caught up, Joked and simply made new memories.
"Thank you Athena for spending my special day with me."
"Of course Mckayla your my bestie after all~"
They giggled one last time before they said their goodbyes and went their separate ways.
Athena reached her front door but just as she was about to unlock it she heard a blood thrilling scream coming from the ally across the street. Athena rushed over immediately only to stop in her tracks. There she laid lifelessl, full of cuts and blood all over her and around her. Above her stood a ghoul probably the one who did this to her. Out of rage Athena activated her Rinkaku, killing the man instantly. She changed back into her proper form so she doesn't terrify her friend.
"Mckayla..."
"S-sorry Athena... I-I just wanted t-to see the r-real you"
Athena pulled out her phone dailing 911 but was stopped by Mckayla's weak hand.
"N-no don't..."
"They can't save me..."
"I signed a thing that won't allow them to save me in a deadly situation."
"But Mckayla I-"
"Please Athena show me... Show me your true form..."
Athena was unsure at first but Mckayla looked her with pleading yes, she obeyed. She activated her rinkaku. Her black and red eyes no staring down at her. Tears rolling down her cheeks.
"So..."
"...Beautiful..."
And just like that Mckayla's eyes lost its shine. Athena held her lifeless body close as she cried for her friend.
