Konrad had a very hard time concentrating. He was currently trying to finish cataloguing the hieroglyphs from the Ritual Formation but his mind would continuously wander back to yesterday.

'She is amazing... We know each other for such a short time yet I could already tell that she isn't just a pretty face...'

Her smile. Her laugh. Her character. Her sense of humor. Everything just clicked together and he wanted to see more of her.

Somehow, he already cared for her like for Octavia. But this was a bit different. She was a humanoid species...

He tried to focus on the task at hand but his daydreaming took him a lot of time, so suddenly there was a knock on the door.

"Come in!" He called out, surprised that it was already time.

The door opened and through them came Mia. Her expression brightened when she saw Konrad and it warmed his heart.

≈Morning Konrad.≈ She said, and Konrad smiled back.

"Good morning Mia. You look lovely today. Please take a seat." He said, not being able to stop himself from commenting on her looks.

Miastiti Blushed and said in the armchair and Konrad did the same.

"How did you sleep tonight?" He asked making her blush redden.

≈ I'm sorry. I didn't intend on falling asleep on your lap. You had to carry me all the way here...≈ She said ashamed.

"It was really no problem. I would have been really disappointed at myself if I had woken you up. You suffered so much pain and deserve a proper sleep. I can't stand seeing you suffer Mia." Said Konrad truthfully.

She smiled and thanked Konrad shyly.

"Now, what would you like to do today Mia? I'm sure you'd like if I showed you around here, right? There's still a lot to see as you only visited two rooms and the lake outside." He teased her and she smiled.

≈I'd like that very much Konrad.≈ She said.

With that, the duo left the room side by side and Konrad started to explain to her about the place in more details than yesterday...

≈...Oh, and i just remembered! After Octavia send me to your room, she suddenly disappeared in a flash of light. Do you know what it was?≈ Asked Miastiti as they were walking by the Entrance Chamber.

"Ah! That's our next destination actually. Here, let me show you." He said and guided her towards the sun Mosaic.

Then, he thought the right password and the teleportation took them into The Lab, surprising the cat girl.

≈Woah! Was that Spatial Magic? It worked so smoothly!≈ Exclaimed Miastiti.

"Oh? You used one of those before? Yes it was my teleportation formation. It leads to my secret lab where I do most of the practical part of my researches. You should feel honoured because there are only two and now three people who know about this place." He joked.

≈Haha! Can't you say the same about your Palace?≈ She laughed along Konrad.

"details..." He joked good naturedly.

"Octavia is probably in her workroom researching some new transformation. She told me recently that her dolphin form was almost done.

Come. Let me show you something that We found not too long ago in a certain Tomb." He said, leading Mia i to the Necromancy department...

≈Eek! Is that an undead?!≈ She exclaimed surprised.

"Yep. To be exact, let me introduce you to Pharaoh Cheops. Guy is three thousand years old so only about three times younger than you, Haha!" Konrad laughed and Mia looked at him increadololusly before bursting into laughter. She had such a sweet laughter that Konrad's heart skipped a beat.

When she finally calmed down she once again looked at the bound mummy and sighed.

≈In a way we are similar..."She said with a heavy voice.

"No, not really. His soul long ago left for the afterlife. The body is kept 'alive' by Death Elemental Magic. You on the other hand are alive and well. You shouldn't compare yourself to this mummy. I wanted to show it to you because of that stupid joke and because it's an interesting thing but I also wanted you to understand the difference." He stood in front of her and looked her in the eyes with his hand on her cheek.

"Mia. I know how much you suffered. I finally understood after putting two and two together from the bits you already told me.

That mist...Look at me, yes...That mist. You were trapped there for a very long time. you couldn't feel as you were just a soul. It felt like a dream, a nightmare that you couldn't wake up from and there was nothing you could do" He eyes were now glistening with tears as her breathing was getting rough. " Stay with me Mia! Listen...The fact is, I can't understand how you feel. But I understand that it was a horrible experience, and i know that you need to get through it. Yes look at me. Because I'm here for you. Whenever you feel lonely. Whenever you feel sad. I'll be there for you from now on Mia. It's all over and you will never have to suffer in that mist again." Tears were now falling freely down her cheeks but she didn't fell into panic. Her emotions stabilized and she started to whisper without loosing eye contact with him.

≈I was alone. always alone... I cried out for help but no one ever came. I lost my faith in being rescued after maybe a year. I didn't really know how much time was passing but it couldn't have been thousands of years. But it was still enough to break me. I used to command an army, you know? But i never really wanted that. I loved to sit in the garden amongst flowers and play with the palace cats until the sun went down. When My Mom died It was a real shock to me. She was a Goddess. Her name was Bastet. One day, she went out to fight a small group of Chaos Creatures attacking a nearby village. It was supposed to be a simple matter, but it was a trap... Apophis was awaiting her there with an army big enough to destroy a City.

She fought valiantly and annihilated a third of his army, but She was alone. If she was against Apophis one on one then she would have won, but when he finally entered the battle, she was already exhausted and slightly poisoned.

When that happened i was only seven years old. It was only a year before the last god died to Apophis schemes. But at that time I was already training. I worked and learned day after day with only a single goal in mind.

Felling the one who killed my mother.

It took him another eight years before he killed every last one of us... and then he came for me...

I knew that i still wasn't ready. My magic, Only a fraction of my mother's, wouldn't be enough to kill him, and only sealing him was a viable option but that still didn't guarantee success.

And then there was his Army of Chaos.

What sense would it be to seal him for a while, if his army eradicated everyone anyway.

So we fought.

It was going good for a while. I was keeping him busy with the magic that my mother taught me and with my weapons while the army of Egyptia and other nations eradicated the monsters.

but I made a mistake that costed me dearly.

In an attempt of saving life of my teacher, I allowed an attack to slip past my guard.

I felt the poisonous Chaos Magic feeding on my Soul so in an act of desperation, I performed the Sealing Ritual, that Sealed Apophis in Duath, his own Chaos Dimension.

But the more connection he had to this side, the easier it was for him to break out, and his army was still to be dealt with.

There was no time to heal me and no one but me could strengthen the seal. So even after the army was gone, the Seal was already damaged...≈ Tears continued to fall down her face but Konrad could only sit there and listen. But he could also tell the next part. She was going to blame herself...

≈When i found myself in that mist, my mind was constantly turning around this single question. Did I doom them all? Was it my fault that they were all dead. I spent years running and crying in that place, calling out for help, or forgiveness...but nobody came...≈ Her eyes were slowly loosing focus, and Konrad saw that she was once again falling into the abbys of panic.He put both his hands on her cheeks and called out her name.

"Mia! Tell me who are you?" He said suddenly. Her eyes once again looking into his.

≈Wha-≈

"Just tell me! like when I first met you."

≈I-I am Miastiti. The Princess of Egyptia.≈

"And why did you fought with Apophis. What were you risking your life for."

≈A-Apophis Killed My Mom! He wanted to kill my people, and destroy everything. I needed to stop him!≈ She said a bit more resolutely. Konrad smiled hearing this answer.

"And do you believe that you did all you could to achieve that?" He asked her and her eyes became angry.

≈Of course I did! I spend half of my life training to achieve it! I sacrificed everything, Every free moment, every little time to win and save everyone!≈ She said fiercely and Konrad smirked.

"Then why are you blaming yourself?" He simply said.

Miastiti's eyes opened wide as she shuddered. Her head lowered and she started to cry and chuckle uncontrollably before falling onto her knees.

Konrad kneeled before her as she continued to cry and chuckle.

≈I'm so p-pathetic, right?≈ She said and looked back up to him. It pained him to see her in this state but she needed a reminder that she did all she could.

"Do you want to know what i see, Mia? I see a strong and driven girl, who suffered too much yet still remained who she was. I see a girl who survived years in isolation, and her only concern was the wellbeing of other people. I see a girl who sacrificed everything to achieve her goal.

You are not pathetic Mia. You are the strongest person I know and I am not speaking about physical nor magical Strength. You shouldn't consider your actions the reason for their deaths but the reason why they had the chance to do what they did. Thanks to you this world didn't fall into Chaos. Maybe it didn't happen the way you hoped it to, but there is only one thing I know which could prevent the same from happening again.

You need to get even stronger..."

his voice reverberated in her mind. 'You need to get stronger'...An understanding spread through her and a small smile appeared on her face. The past doesn't matter. It's just a learning experience. what matters is the present. As long as you prepare yourself now, the future wouldn't pose a problem to you.

She might have lost her Kingdom, but the world was still standing.And She would do everything to keep it that way.

Her eyes fell back on Konrad's.

≈ I want to get stronger, so that the same situation never happens again. Could you help me?≈ She asked and Konrad grinned seeing that his words finally got through to her.

"You don't need to ask that Mia. I told you already. I'll be there for you, so just smile for me. You are so beautiful when you smile." He said once again caressing her cheek.

Mia's heart skipped a beat once again but she already realized what happened this time.

Konrad really stole her heart...
