Danger in the Forest. part 2

The Steel Broadsword flashed, as Konrad swing it towards the 'giant cat'. His aim was the neck, as he tried to decapitate it.

Thanks to his constant sword training, his agility was already his stronger statistic. With it being over two and a half times stronger than normal people, He shouldn't have had a hard time hitting the monster, and with his strength reaching double the norm, The damage should be substantial.

Of course It couldn't be that easy... The creature was clearly specialized in agility just like him, because it once again evaded, before trying to scratch him with it's claws.

A clang resounded as the claws collided with his weapon. This creature was strong! Or at least heavy...

"Heh...You'll be a good sparing partner... There's only this much i can learn by myself..." Konrad said when they separated.

His worry was already gone. The uneasy feeling, that haunted him for the last few days disappeared with the appearance of the monster. The unknown danger was in front of him and...he knew that he could take it on! All of his training was exactly for such a situation after all.

The two, once again engaged in their struggle, neither managing to harm the other one. It was as if they were both evenly matched in agility and perception. He could read and dodge the attacks of the Black Panther-like creature but the same could be said for the Monster! The difference between the two was their strength that was clearly superior in the case of Konrad's enemy.

"If that's the case then...Let's see who's smarter!" He muttered and suddenly turned around and fled...

The sudden turn of events momentarily confused the Cat before it huffed with black smoke and chased after Konrad.

It was much faster than Konrad so in a few second Konrsd could hear the sound of the monster closing on him. Then it jumped at his exposed back only for Konrad to suddenly turn around and slash on the face of The Creature, taking it by surprise.

The attack finally connected, causing a nauseating screech that didn't resemble cat's in the slightest.

Black ooze was slowly dripping from the clearly visible wound that went through the middle of its face, from its left lower jaw to the right ear, successfully taking out the creatures right eye in the process.

The second eye looked at him with clear hatred, as the creater withdrew and began to circle around him.

'Well...so not too smart then. Also, it's perception should be worse now... it ought to be a walk in the park from this moment on.' Thought Konrad, only to suddenly jump to the side, dodging a black missile that could be only a single thing... Magic!

The missile collided with a tree behind him and easily toppled it down in a weird, smokey, corrosive explosion. He didn't want to think what would happen to his body if that attack hit it's intended target.

'This thing can use magic?! Well...that's clear then, that I had something to do with it's appearance... It couldn't have been a coincidence and there was no such creatures in the world since people doesn't even believe in magic...

Ehh...of course I had to cause something like this...ugh, great...anyway let's focus on here and now!' He thought while dodging the second ball of darkness that shot from the creature's mouth.

He could clearly feel the magic power of the creature now that he thought about it. It seemed to be slowly repairing the damage he caused... but it was weak!

And it was weird, As if... it wasn't all the magic of the creature. It felt more like the creature had very little personal magic and relied on the mana in the surroundings to...Mana in the surroundings! Konrad suddenly understood.

The thing was attracted by the Mana he was expelling to train his capacity! And it was trying to absorb some of it and even use it to cast those weird spells!

"You want my Mana? Here let me give you some. Snow Storm! Ice Spike!" Konrad exclaimed, causing his magic to pull all the snow around them i lnto the air before casting ice spikes at the creature through the smokescreen by relying on his Mana Sense.

There were clear sound of the attacks connecting and the creature wailed in pain but he didn't stop there because he knew that it should be resistant to ice. The only thing that his attack inflicts would be a number of ice cauterized wounds. But That's exactly what he wanted! He didn't want to destroy the creature but immobilize it or kill it without loosing the body. It was a precious research material after all!!!

The plan with the smokescreen worked better than expected though, because soon enough there was a thud and only the pained screech could be heard faintly.

Konrad removed the snowy smokescreen and walked towards the creature while staying vigilant. The reason for the thud could be visible now as his Ice spikes clearly pierced through the two front legs of the creature and completely immobilized it.

Of course it could still jump at Konrad but he didn't expect it to do so. It seemed seriously wounded and very exhausted. The magic power in it's body couldn't heal it fast enough.

Konrad cast more ice magic to completely imprison the monster in a block of ice, and took out his field research equipment.

"Well hello there! Can't wait to see what you are. But first...//A cliffhanger LOL//"
