Chapter 5

The next morning I woke up one hour before my alarm clock went off.

"Need more sleep." I groaned. Rolling over and clutching my pillow closer to my head. Sleep didn't grace me with it's presence so with a long sigh I got out of bed and went about my daily routine. I finished my daily routine quickly and feel back asleep with just my bra and panties on. What felt like a minute turned out to be half an hour because before I knew it my alarm clock went off. "Dammit!" With a whine I got out of bed. I slammed my fist on top of the clock before picking out my outfit.

"Okay since this school is near the Immortal Forest maybe I should wear a dark outfit." I pulled out a dark blue lace halter corset top and matching tripp skirt. I pulled my clothes on along with my socks. "Hmmmm, I need dark shoes." It took some searching until I found my black buckle boots. Satisfied with my outfit I left my room and went to eat breakfast.

"So why are you dressed like an emo kid?" Rodrick asked. The sound of his voice caused me to jump.

"First of all ''emo'' is an old term that isn't used anymore. Second of all you don't need to know." I snapped back.

"Tch. Freak." He mumbled before walking off. With a roll of my eyes I left the house to go pick up Elyk.

Sadness blanketed me as I walked to Elyk's house. "Since I'm going to that new school I won't see Elyk as often." I whined. "At least I still get to walk him to school." I smiled gently as I walked quietly to Elyk's room. He was sitting in the same place as yesterday, all dressed and ready to go. I quickly walked over to him and hugged him tightly. "Ready to go?"

"Do you really have to go to that school?" He asked with his head down. Kairu barked in agreement.

"Umm well…"

Elyk rose to his feet nearly knocking me over. "Why? Why do you have to go?"

"Elyk.."

He spun around and pulled me into his arms. "You're not going. I won't let you."

"I have to." My voice sounded foreign almost as if someone else was talking for me. "It's the only way I can learn more about how to control my dark magic."

His arms tightened around me. "No fair." He nuzzled my neck.

I hugged him tightly. "We need to go."

"But I don't want to."

"Come on." Elyk groaned as I dragged him to the door. Kairu let out a muffled bark-Elyk's bag was hanging from his mouth. Elyk whined as he grabbed his bag from Kairu's mouth. "Come on." I repeated as I grabbed his hand and dragged/pulled him outside-Kairu jumped on his shoulder once Elyk had his bag on. Elyk and I walked in sad silence the rest of the way to school.

***Headmaster's office

Elyk's kiss was so sad. I thought as I paced the office, waiting for the headmaster to come back from the coffee room. As if I didn't feel horrible about leaving. Now I feel worse. "Fuck!!" I yelled just as the headmaster entered.

"Teenagers have quiet the mouth these days."

I nearly fell over at the sound of his voice. "I'm so sorry Headmaster. I didn't hear you come in…" My face grew hot with embarrassment. The headmaster let out a belly laugh that filled the room.

"Anyway, lets get you teleported." He clapped his hands together. A blue portal appeared in front of him. "Step through and you will be teleported to the school."

I bowed. "Thank you." With a deep breath I stepped into the portal and in a few seconds I arrived in front of a wood cabin complete with a chimney. "What the fuck? This is no school." I hiked my bag up. "I hope I don't die." I set out towards the cabin.

The door of the cabin was even more weird then the cabin itself. The door was made from an elder tree-if I remember my trees correctly-and had the all seeing eye carved into it followed by a full moon and a blazing sun. "Well…okay then." The door opened before I could knock.

Standing before me was a man dressed in a black robe with the hood up. He was around six foot ten and incredible lanky. I swear if I touched him he would shatter. He moved out of my way and beckoned me inside with a ghostly white skin tight hand. His finger nails curved into claws and where a sickly yellow.

The inside of the cabin was much bigger then perceived from outside. The room I was standing in had different tables filled with miscellaneous books and equipment used for various spells and potion making. The inside reeked of the cabin reeked of mint.

"Nice place." I mumbled. "Where to?"

Without making a sound the man glided to the right. This room was as big as the entrance and held the fireplace-which was made of deep red bricks. Inside the fireplace was a big black pot filled with something that released green smoke that was emitting the mint smell. The room had various desk filled with different books with foreign titles. In the center of the room, facing a black board, was a school desk, the kind with a chair attached. The man gestured to the desk before gliding to the black board. I slide into the seat and placed my bag over the chair. When the man had my attention he pulled his hood down. His face was just as creepy as his hands. Pale white skin that was tightly pulled over his bones and he was as bald as a baby, his eyes where a soulless black. When he looked at me it felt as if he was staring into my soul, analyzing every part of me. His thin lips parted, revealing pointed yellowing teeth. "My name is Funo and I will be teaching you the art of demon and angel magic. You will address me as Master Funo."

I nodded my head not wanting to talk. Even his voice sounded ghostly. "You will begin by reading the first book written about the combination of the two arts." With a flick of his wrist a black and white book bigger then my head landed on the desk.

"You want me to read this?"

"I have already stated this fact have I not?" He folded his arms behind his back.

"Well yes."

"Then yes you are to read the book. You must finish this entire book by next week."

My heart stopped beating for a fraction of a second. "I can't finish this book by next week!"

Funo glared at me. If looks could kill. "You will finish this book. No exceptions. If you are to be my student you will do as I say." His voice was leveled and calm but his words dripped with venom.

"Not like I chose to be a freak."

He looked ready to kill me. "Never ever call your magic ability freakish. What you have is a gift, rather you want it or not. Except this fact."

Talk about a verbal slap in the face. "Sorry Master Funo." I grumbled. "I'll read the book."

He smiled. "Excellent. Now, we shall began our lesson. Rise."

I rose from the desk. With another flick of his wrist the desk and everything on it disappeared. "Now place you hands in such a way that it resembles a meditation stance. One hand across your chest and the other below." He demonstrated. "Now concentrate on making a ball in the center of your hands. Feel the energy flow from your finger tips to the center." A ball of pure black with stripes of white appeared in the center of his hands. "Make it grow." It grew. "And shrink." It shrunk before it dissipated. "Try."

Concentrate I thought as I stared at the space between my hands Concentrate. This was harder then Funo made it look. This is lame.

"Do not give up. Keep trying." He said as if reading my intentions. "You will get it soon." He then left.

"Tch. Easy for you to say." I breathed. And so I stood in my spot eyes focused on the space between my hands. So fucking lame.

Ask me for help.

My body jerked at the sound of Nulil's voice. Your 'deep' concentration awoke me. Ask me for help.

I can do this myself.

No you can not. This is an ancient method used to strengthen ones magical potential. You need my help.

No I don't

Yes you do Lilun. Just accept it.

Fine.

Energy coursed through my body at a frequency unknown to me. It hurt.

Now add your energy to mine.

The pain ebbed away and was replaced by floating sensation.

Now make the ball.

The energy flowed to my finger tips then it collected into a black and white marble ball in the center of my palms. "I'm doing it!" I cheered. I made the ball grown then shrink. "Master Funo! I did it!"

Funo glided next to me with a smile on his lips. "Perfect."

The ball dissipated and I laughed.

"Funo are you here?" A smooth male voice called.

"I am in the learning chamber Zev." Funo called out.

A boy around my age entered the room. He brought with him the smell of the woods. He was the same height as Elyk and had smoky gray eyes that looked like they would belong to a wolf. His skin was a dusted brown and he looked like a typical pretty boy. His hair was an array of brown and gold brown and was wild and crazy. He was dressed in a fitted black top that showed muscles that weren't to big or too small. He also had dark blue cargo pants that hung low on his hips revealing a v, he had no shoes on.

He looked at me and gave a toothy smile that showed pointed white canine teeth. "Is this your new student Funo?" He was suddenly right in front of me. His eyes scanned my body. "Got a cute one this time."

Heat rose to my face.

"This is Lilun. Lilun this is Zev. He is a werewolf. He is my helper and is quiet skilled in Herbology. He can make an array of different potions and tonics."

Zev shrugged. "What can I say. Werewolves are excellent with plants."

My body was paralyzed. I was in the presence of a werewolf, the second strongest immortal.

Zev smirked. "Your even cuter when your paralyzed Lilun."

Snap out of it! Nulil yelled. "How old are you?" I blurted

He smirked. "It's rude to ask someone's age." He leaned in closer, placing his lips next to my ear. "In human years I'm nineteen. I'm considered an adult by my pack." His breath was warm and smelt sweet. The sweet scent of his breath and his normal wood smell made me dizzy. He leaned away and the dizziness cleared, I was also able to breath properly. "Just thought I would drop by and see the new kid." He was talking to Funo, but his eyes never left me. "See you round." In a blink of an eye he was gone but his scent lingered.

"We should take a break. You may return to your old school if you wish. To have lunch."

"Yeah."

Funo flicked his wrist and my bag appeared on my back.

"You shall find the portal in the same spot as where you entered."

I bowed before Funo then left. Once outside I took a deep breath and cleared my lungs of the cabin smell. As I walked to the portal I felt a pair of eyes following me.

It's just that werewolf. Keep walking. Nulil snapped.

The hair stood up on the back of my neck.

"Where you going."

My body flinched. "Home." I replied in an icy tone.

"You'll be back." His question was more of an answer.

My hands tightened on the straps of my bag before I entered the portal.
