1 Chapter 1 Total Darkness
Third person's p.o.v
It was somewhat a warm Autumn day, Friday to be exact. Celeste had just gotten home from school and was already starting to get a duffel bag ready for her camping trip with some of her friends, since fall break had now just begun. She put almost all of her clothes in this duffel bag since they had planned on staying out there for the whole break. Then she got her backpack and dumped out all her school stuff and began filling it with her personal items along with a pair sandals and some socks for her converse. After she was done, she folded up her blanket and put it on top of the duffel along with one body pillow and one regular pillow, tieing it to the top. While she was making sure everything she needed was in her bags, a car horn bellows outside her house. Looking out the window of her room she saw her friend Derick getting out of his Tahoe and opening up the trunk, while her other friend Angel rolled down the window and stuck her head out, like she was a dog.
"Hurry up Celeste we gotta go pick up the other two!!" Angel yelled and Celeste began to quickly grab her things and walk down the hallway to the front door, but before she could open it her grandma came down the hallway and stopped her quickly by speaking.
"Hey, you can't say goodbye, kiss my ass, or nothing?" She said and Celeste giggled dropping her things and turning around to her grandma. Her grandma walked up to her and hugged her tightly before speaking.
"I'll see you at the end of fall break, I love you." She said and Celeste smiled.
" I love you too Nana." She said and hugged her back just as tight until the moment was ruined by the car horn on her friends van going off longer than before.
"You better go before your friends make our neighbors angry." Her grandma said and she nodded, picking her things back up. Her grandma helped by opening the door and watching Celeste leave towards the Tahoe, beginning to put her things in the trunk with Derick helping her. When they got done Derick closed the trunk and then got back in the driver seat, while Celeste got in the passenger seat. Before Celeste closed the door she waved goodbye to her grandma but was interrupted by Angel.
"Come on slow ass close the door you'll see her later." Angel said and Celeste nodded closing the door, then they were off. Celeste sat there in silence while Derick and Angel talked to each other about what the plan was.
"Ok, so...we are going to go pick up Steven and Lilac, then go to the grocery store to get food and drinks, and maybe, 'MAYBE' some smores if I have enough money after getting everything that we need on the list, then we will go to the campsite." Derick said and Angel smiled hearing the word smores.
"Ok did you get the tents?" Angel asked and Derick nodded.
"Yes, you and I will share one, Steven got one for him and Lilac and I got Celeste one for herself if she doesn't want to sleep with us or them." He said and Celeste looked at him shaking her head.
"I'm ok with having a tent of my own, we will probably be up all night anyway." She said and Derick smiled.
"Your right, none of us sleep at night." Derrick said and Angel got out of her seat so she could get close to us.
"If we are lucky we can summon the Slender Man!!" She said and Derrick and I smiled.
"You really want to die tonight don't you?" Derrick said and Angel smiled.
"Only by the Slender Man, Sorry love but if I had a choice between you and Slender Man, I'd choose Slendy!!!" She screamed and Celeste laughed lightly thinking it was funny, all Derick did was smile.
"Yea, I know, good thing the people you have crushes on aren't real." He said and Angel pouted crossing her arms. The two of them continued talking but Celeste began to tune them out and started becoming lost in her own thoughts as she stared out the side window.
'I wonder what area Derick got for the campsite, if its the one that I'm thinking of I hope he got a spot by the lake. I loved the lake, I think its man made because it has black sand and very clear blue water. At night the lake glows blue from a certain kind of algae and it's just breathtaking, and knowing Derick he probably did get the spot next to the lake so he could make it romantic for him and Angel. He's always doing cute things like that for her, even though sometimes he does these things too much and too often which then it becomes kind of annoying, but I'm still very happy that she found someone who isn't the cheating type.'
Celeste's thoughts soon were interrupted by the Tahoe stopping harshly because Derrick had almost drove passed Steven's house. He backed the Tahoe up a bit and pressed against the steering wheel with his hand making a honking noise come from the truck, and on cue, Steven came out of his house with his bags and Lilac following behind with hers. Derrick got out and helped them put everything in the trunk as he did with Celeste .
"Hey Celeste, How was school by yourself with the two new lovebirds?" Steven asked and Celeste smiled.
"It was good, you missed an almost beat down that involved us three." She said and it perked Stevens interest.
"Oh, and why did that happen?" He asked and Angel rolled down the window sticking her head out again.
"Because this bitch decided she was going to call me and Celeste fat!" Angel said with anger in her voice.
"Yea and then, when we retaliated with a come back, her boyfriend came over and decided he was going to start crap with us as well, that's when Derick stepped in." Celeste said as she watched everyone pile inside the Tahoe.
"Damn, now I wish I would have gone...." Steven said and Angel laughed.
"Yea but you were to busy with your girlfriend today." Angel teased and Steven looked at her with a hint of irritation.
"Ok everyone, now we have to go to the store, I will go in and get everything we need, while you guys stay here. So when I get back and put all the groceries away we can just leave without wasting time." Derrick says and Celeste furrowed her eyebrows realizing she was sitting up front with Derrick while Angel sat behind her.
"Hey Angel, why aren't you sitting up here with Derrick?" She asked and Angel shrugged.
"I wanted to be able to lay the seat down if I got tired, I mean it is going to be a long drive." She said and Celeste nodded now understanding she wanted her space. Soon we got to the store and Derrick quickly walked to the door getting a basket from outside, everyone else stayed in the car as Derrick said to.
Celeste's P.o.v
I sat there in the seat looking through my backpack for my notebook and pencil, when I finally found it I pulled it out and continued drawing on a picture that I had started on. After about a minute or two I was already done and Angel peered over my shoulder looking down at it. The drawing was a hand hovering over a few forest trees, and from the fingers hung planets with some string attached.
"That's really pretty Celeste." She said and I smiled.
"Thank you...I guess you can say I'm really into space..." I said and she snorted a bit while I put the notebook back in my backpack.
"Yea, especially since your hole room at home, looks like a universe." She said teasingly and I giggled.
"No, it doesn't...You just have a different style of bedroom because you live with a boy." I said and she smiled.
"I live with you too most of the time." She said and I rolled my eyes smiling, looking back down at my drawing. I sighed and raised my head to look out the window to see if Derrick was out yet and to my surprise, he was already coming out of the store with a cart fool of food.
"Finally!" Angel said raising her arms up in the air. "We will finally be able to leave and get on to the lake." She said and Lilac began to get in the second middle seat next to Angel.
"So who's going swimming in the lake?" She asks and everyone looks at her confused.
"Lilac the water is too cold for that, we will get sick." I said and she shrugged.
"Awe come on, a bit of cold never hurt anyone." She said and Angel snorted.
"Yea unless you get hypothermia, and then you have a chance of dying." She said and Steven smirked.
"Baby we're not going swimming, your still a bit sick from last week, remember your bronchitis?" He said and Lilac frowned.
"But I even brought my new swimsuit...." she said and I smiled.
"Lilac if the water is warm tomorrow then we will swim, I promise." I said and she smiled happily like a child. Her personality is very childlike unless it's with her boyfriend, then she tries to act cute and sexy for him but she's not the type to be sexy. Derrick got back inside the car after he was done putting the groceries in the trunk next to our bags.
"Ok, so I had enough for smores so yes I got them." He said and Angel hit the top of the truck with her fists.
"YES!!" She yelled and everyone giggled a bit.
"Now we are off to the campsite." Derrick said as he started the truck and began driving down the highway.
"How long do you think it'll take to get there?" I asked and Derick stayed silent for a moment but you could tell he was thinking of an answer by how his eyebrows furrowed together.
"Um....its 6:30 now...we should be there by 8.....and when we get there we won't have time to play around we will have to hurry up and set the tents up." he said and I nodded looking out my window, I began to daydream of the water and the glowing algae making an even more beautiful view. Soon my eyes began to get heavy from boredom and I fell asleep against the cold window of the Tahoe.
It didn't feel like I slept very long but my eyes opened slowly when I felt someone nudging me gently. I picked my head up and looked over with my tired eyes seeing Derrick smiling at me.
"Hey sleepy head, come on get up, we're here and we don't have time to just sit around..." He said gently and I nodded looking around, seeing everyone had already gotten out of the truck and started putting their tents up, I noticed Angel was nice enough to put mine up for me since I was sleeping. I slowly got out of the truck with my backpack in one hand while I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes with the other. Then I began walking to the back of the truck to get my stuff out of the trunk.
"Ok guys, now all we need is the stuff out of the trunk and firewood." Derrick said while looking over at Steven. Steven gave an are you serious look to Derrick while putting his hands on his hips.
"Steven, do you mind?" Derrick asked and Steven went to protest until Lilac began to wrap her arm around him.
"Come on Steven, I wanna explore a little bit anyway, I've never been here before." She said making Steven sigh but soon he smiled.
"Ok.... let's go."He said and began walking away with Lilac. I watched them walk away as I walked over to my tent and put my stuff inside, then soon noticed Angel walking around the other side of me.
"Hey, do you think this is big enough?" She asked hinting towards the tent which intern made me smirk.
"Yes Angel I may be a bit chubby but I'm not fat." I said and she laughed.
"I wasn't calling you fat, I was just asking if you think this was enough room." She said and I nodded.
"Thank you for setting it up for me." I said and she nodded turning around towards the direction that Steven and Lilac took to get firewood.
"So, do you think they'll come back with the firewood, or get distracted by something?" She asked and I smiled.
"They will probably get distracted but it'll be fine." I said and she nodded but soon gasped and turned around grabbing my arm.
"Oh I saw Makenzie the other day and she was talking to me about her boyfriend, and she was talking about his dick." She said and I began to walk away not wanting to hear, but she followed me.
"No wait, listen, I promise its funny. Anyways she said the first time she saw it she was taken back by it because she said it was barely even the size of her pinky!" She said laughing and I smiled wide thinking she was stupid.
"Damn, I can't even wrap my finger around that information." I said while holding my pinky up and Derrick began laughing along with Angel, I guess he was listening to us. "I actually did that by accident I wasn't even trying to make that a joke." I said making Derrick and Angel laugh even more.
"That was great." Derrick said as he slicked his hair back with his hand, and soon after everyone stopped laughing Lilac and Steven walked back to us holding sticks and dried up leaves.
"Finally, I thought I'd have to come and get you two." Derrick said taking the sticks from Lilac and putting them in the fire pit in the middle of the campsite, Steven followed right after him. Before Derrick could light the wood something on the ground began to glow blue which illuminated some of the ground making it almost look like glitter.
"Oh, I didn't even notice the lake...." I said softly and everyone took in the beauty of it, the algae sparkled like stars as the water gently crashed against the rocky bay.
"I hate to disturb the beauty, but I need to light the fire." Derrick said and everyone nodded watching him light a leaf on fire and throw it into the pile of sticks. After a while, it began to engulf the rest of the dried up sticks making a somewhat big fire, crackling noises and smoke arose from the flames and the heat felt nice against my skin since it was getting a bit cold. Angel ran over to the Tahoe and began rummaging through the grocery bags, probably looking for the smore stuff. I sat down on a log that was on one side of the fire trying to keep warm while everyone else sat on either side. We sat there making smores and just talking about life and what we were going to do when we got out of school.
"I don't know about you guys but I want all of us to live in a big house together so we always have each other and don't end up like some friends who separate after high school ends." Lilac said making me smile at how sweet she was, and I kinda agreed with her. I don't really have anyone besides them and my grandma...but shes not doing too well...
"I actually like that idea..." Angel said as she ate her smore and cuddled up to Derrick who nodded in return for her comment.
"Yea...it would be a shame if we all just left each other..." Derrick said and everyone went into silence, no one knew what to say. We sat there in silence for what seemed like forever until we heard a loud noise coming from the part of the woods behind me. I quickly looked in the direction it came from and began to get curious but also a bit worried.
"What was that?" Angel asked but no one could answer her question because they didn't really know.
"Probably an animal." Derrick said to try and reassure us but that soon disappeared when something very tall came slowly walking out of the dark woods right in front of us. Everyone quickly stood up becoming a bit startled by this, it had a human-like figure but...something was wrong...unless I just couldn't see it but it had no face. The first thing that came to mind was Slender Man when I saw it and My gaze quickly went to Angel.
"Angel please tell me you didn't try and summon the Slender Man while I was asleep." I said quickly putting my gaze back on the tall slender.....man?
"NO! I was setting up your tent while Derick set up ours." She said and before anyone could say anything the thing began walking towards us slowly, I immediately ran back towards my tent getting into my duffel bag for a hand knife. When I found it I went to go back out but heard Lilac scream which made me pause in my tracks becoming scared.
"I don't think so, get your hands o-" Steven began to say but got cut off for some reason and began screaming as well.
"Angel run!!" I heard Derick yell and as soon as I regained my composure I went to get out but was stopped by something being thrown at my tent and hitting me. I screamed being startled and soon realize that it was Derrick when I opened the tent door a bit. He lay there unconscious with a bleeding head, I went to bend down and cover his head but was stopped by a hand touching my shoulder, the slender looking person pushed me back into the tent and held me there, I scream and tried kicking but it was no use. Then I took my hand that held the knife and began to stab him in different places, I noticed that the thing wasn't flinching but it was bleeding bright blue blood like the color of the algea in the lake. I stared in shock as I noticed its face looked like glass, black shiny glass. After a minute of us just staring at each other...or well I thought it was staring at me, a loud sound like a horn came from outside. It tilted its head slowly to the side to look out the door flap then back at me, all of a sudden its hand began to glow, it almost looked like a galaxy. My breathing began to quicken when I realized it was placing its hand on my forehead, but soon I began to calm down as everything became fuzzy and hard to see. My eyelids became heavy as my mind went blank, it was putting me to sleep. I tried to fight it but whatever it was doing it was making me very weak and soon I passed out.....Everything became total darkness.
