1 ◾||Prologue||◾

Hanji's ears flattened against the rushing wind, her heart thumping as she raced across the woods. Growling echoed behind her, she was being pursued. She flung open her wings and jumped into the air, getting lifted up. Sudden pain struck her bones as one of her pursuers lunged and grabbed her left-wing with its jaw. Blood dripped to the ground as Hanji's wings weakened and slowly started falling to the ground. I don't want to go, not yet. This helped the other pursuers to lunge forwards and grab her body. Hanji tried her best to shake them off, but they clung on like burrs.

"Let me go!" She barked to her opponents, snapping her teeth and biting her enemy's ears. The pursuers howled in pain and crashed down to the earth, a spine-chilling 'crack' coming from below Hanji. Hanji's fur puffed out, she continued flying higher. Her wings weak from the vicious bites, it gave away, and she plummeted down to the earth in a nosedive. She started to lose consciousness until a burst of agony exploded in her body. She screamed in pain as her body crashed into the earth, her bones cracking beneath her. She could barely get up to her legs, gritting her teeth. She looked around and noticed her pursuers were gone. She sighed and laid down on the damp grass only to stumble back up again as she saw a young wolf pup walking around near the trees before her. But what shocked Hanji the most was the appearance of the she-pup. Its pure white pelt had dark red markings, Its amber eyes looking around in confusion. Its outline was darker than any spirit wolf Hanji has ever seen. Its paws seemed to create pressure on the ground, it's pelt was nowhere near seethrough. No. This is impossible. It can't be. She shook her head and ran towards the pup. The winged pup yelped as she saw Hanji dashing towards her. Hanji opened her jaw and closed it around the tiny pup's body. She could feel the rapid pulse inside the pup. Her mind was swirling in thoughts. How is a living wolf in the spirit world?! How did it get here? Hanji looked around the pursuers appeared behind the trees. I have to put away this pup somewhere safe. She dug into the ground and released the pup inside it, it started yelping in terror, as Hanji covered her mouth with her white wings.

"Shhh, it's gonna be okay little one."

The pup quickly silenced, and at that moment, Hanji took some moss near a tree and put it on top of the pup, then kicked over some ground over the moss, completely burying the pup inside.

Hanji started running in the opposite direction of the hole, determined to lead her pursuers away from the pup. She glanced back and noticed the opponents were chasing her once more. She looked up at the orange sky as it seemed to light in flames as the sun rose down the horizon. She thought of the pup with the dark red markings. That's it. She might be the only chance we live... only she, can save us all.
