5 Chapter-5

After killing the Purgatory Flame Demon, The burning world around William disappeared as he returned back to the dark space.

In the dark space the burning eyes of the Phoenix once again appeared above William.

The Phoenix God's spirit scanned William's body and was dumbfounded to find out that there wasn't even as much as a scratch left on his body.

'But he dosen't even practise [The Great Way Of Buddha] then how?', Confusion filled Phoenix spirit's eyes, Just as she was about to ask about the anomaly.

"The second trial."

William beat her to it.

"Start the second trial."

"..."

Staring at William who had such a casual attitude, Phoenix God's spirit decided to wait till the end of the trial before questioning him.

"Starting the second trial Arrow Of The Phoenix.", Phoenix's spirit shouted on a majestic voice as the dark world around William started to distort.

In an instant the dark world was replaced by a dry desert.

Looking around the barren desert, William tried to remember about the trial from the novel.

'What was the trial again?'.

Just as William was thinking.

*shree*

A red dot flashed pass his eyes at a speed faster than William's eyes could follow.

Blood splashed in the air.

'Oh I remember now.', William came to a realisation as he saw his right arm fly off in the air.

Putting strength in his legs, William jumped in the air.

As soon as he jumped, Countless flame arrows covered the place where he was a moment ago.

Looking down at the flame arrows, William who was in mid-air extended his left hand grabbing his right arm which was detached a moment ago.

With quick movement, William placed the severed limb back in place.

In seconds the broken bone was healed and reattach followed by the veins, arteries, muscles...in less than five seconds William's arms was back in place.

"It's the trial in which I have to dodge the arrows." William said as he landed on the ground.

*Pierce*

"hup", Blood came out of William's mouth as he looked down at the flame arrow coming out of his stomach.

With a frown, William took out the arrow as blood gushed out from his stomach.

Holding the flame arrow, Just as William was about to break it.

*Pierce*Pierce*Pierce*

Three more flame arrows appeared, Neatly piercing through his shoulder and legs.

But those weren't all.

A frown appeared on William's face as he turned his head up and say thousands of flame arrows coming down on him from the sky.

Seeing the sky get covered by the countless arrows a glint passed through William's eyes.

Cracks started appearing in the desert world signalling the end of the second trial, within seconds the desert disappeared as the pitch black room once again covered the trial ground.

Having successful completed the trial, William stopped in front of the giant burning eyes.

Staring at William, The phoenix God's spirit asked in a slightly timid voice.

".....Are you okay?"

"Yes"

"......"

"Are you sure ?"

"Yes I am perfectly fine"

'Perfectly fine my divine as*', Phoenix's spirit shouted in her mind as she stared at William who has become a porcupine.

'Also why did you, instead of dodging just sat down on the ground like it was too much of a bother to even evade the goddamn arrows!!!!!', If she could then the Phoenix spirit would have spurted a mouth full of blood by now.

*Pull out*

Phoenix spirit's eyes started loosing focus as she saw William calmly taking out arrows stuck all over his body.

"Just what are you."

She no longer cared about her appearance and blatantly started checking out what William's body is made up of.

Seeing that no reply was coming from William, Phoenix God's spirit used a slightly forceful tone.

"Answer me human."

"Me?"

Lifting his right leg, William pulled the arrow which was stuck in his foot.

"I'm just your day to day friendly neighborhood profound cultivator."

With a speechless expression on her face the Phoenix's spirit looked at the flame arrow in William's hand which was still covered in fresh blood.

Not minding the Phoenix's gaze, William said.

"Let's start the third trial."

Seeing William's attitude, Phoenix's spirit released a sigh as it said in a dispirited voice.

"Third trial Test Of Character."

Suddenly William's vision blurred as he fell unconscious.

After who knows how long, William opened his eyes.

An unfamiliar ceiling entered William's vision.

Getting up from the bed, William looked around him, Looking around he found out that this was the same house in which he took over this body.

"Brother....", A small voice called out to William.

Turning his head, William saw a small girl, around twelve years old looking at him.

"Brother", The little girl came closer and stood right in front of William.

Looking at the little girl, William noticed that she was hiding a small knife inside her sleeve.

"Brother", The little girl wrapped her hands around William's waist as she continued in a small voice.

"Can you die for me.....", The little girl said as she took out the knife from her sleeve and stabbed right at William's heart.

A strange feeling came to William's mind, telling him that he will be able to pass the trial if he killed the little girl.

But since he already know what to do by reading the novel, William didn't retaliate and let the small knife pierce his chest.

As soon as the knife pierced his chest, the small house around him started cracking as he returned back to the dark space.

As William was touching the place where the little girl stabbed, The Phoenix's voice rang out.

"Congratulations...you have successfully completed the test of character with flying colours...".

The phoenix continued as she looked at William.

"Although you already completed the trial, I would still like to know why you didn't retaliate as your younger sister was about to kill you."

'It's definitely because he deeply loves his family so much so that he can even sacrifice himself for them....', Although the Phoenix asked, she had already pretty much made her own conclusion.

"Why I didn't kill my younger sister isn't that obvious Phoenix God's spirit...."

The Phoenix God's spirit nodded in her head as she thought, "Indeed".

Just as the Phoenix God's spirit was about to give out the rewards.

"It's because the little girl was too weak to do any harm to me in the first place."

'......?'

"Also her weapon was a small knife with a rusted blade."

'What?'

"And even if she did managed to pierce me, I could just regenerate."

'Wtf?'

With a serious expression on his face, William concluded.

"In short she was no threat to me at all."

'Dammit I give up!!!!'
