5 Escape

Leaping from the window, Amaris closed her eyes and reached out with her mind. Spirals of colors and light wove delicately around her. Focusing on a particular light she gently flicked it to the side.

Opening her eyes once more, Amaris saw that the air around her was distorted. Smiling she slowed her decent with the help of this 'air' and pushed off the ground at an angle.

The force she used was small but somehow the young girl flew through the air akin to the wind during a hurricane.

After a while Amaris closed her eyes once more and rearranged the displaced light. Immediately afterward the distorted air bubble around her disappeared and she flew several feet farther before sliding to a stop.

Amaris glanced at her surroundings. Tall trees blocked out the light from the hot sun. Wild herbs and grasses clumped here and there and occasionally one would spot colorful birds in the hanging branches.

Dead leaves and small twigs were everywhere and countless flowers bloomed from the bushes. Small unripe fruits could be seen in some of the larger bushes and the forest floor was slightly damp.

Not far from her landing sight a small clearing could be seen. The trees overhead thickened over the clearing and though there weren't any trees in the vicinity the sky was still blocked from sight.

In the middle of this clearing, a small wooden house sat, obscured from view by the flowers and vines that canvased the exterior.

Walking up to the house, Amaris knocked on the door in a pattern before entering on her own.

"Master? I'm sorry I was gone for quite a while I had to do some things."

Amaris glanced around the small room and saw a middle-aged man sitting in a chair, reading an old scroll.

"Hn, what have you been doing that you completely forgot about me? You know I had some chores for you to do."

Amaris' Master said with a hurt expression.

"Ah! you know we can do those things later. Right now I have some news to share!"

Amaris exclaimed excitedly.

"Yes yes. Just spare me already child."

Amaris hastily sat down across her Master and looked him in the eyes.

"I was just doing the normal rounds in the village and saw an old man being whipped by a noble."

Amaris' expression dimmed.

"Filled with rage I decided to scare them a bit. The Sunfox Manor was partially unguarded at one side. So, I snuck past those helpless guards and into the nearest tower."

Amaris started smiling smugly.

"The guards didn't even notice me! Hehe... I robbed the room blind!! Ehm.. but a person did see me... AH! but I had my cloak on so they didn't see my face!"

"y-you!" Master's face darkened visibly.
