31: Chaos (2)

Another day had come, to no one's surprise, a huge tension had arisen in the mansion.

The survivors didn't understand it, but instinctively they could feel the strong scent of violence coming from the Yakuza residence.

Yuriko stood at the entrance with a serious expression on her face, Cloud was behind her talking to the leaders of the different squads under the Yakuza leader.

"We got everything ready, Yuriko, we made it" - Cloud said with a small smile.

"Even my little gift for that son of a bitch?" - Yuriko asked while raising an eyebrow.

"Especially that, good thing we thought of it" - answered Cloud while shrugging his shoulders.

"That's good to hear" - nodded Yuriko as she looked towards the horizon, in the direction of the beach, only to see with neutrality the light produced by the explosion. The moment had arrived, but there were no problems because they were prepared - "Start with the operation, and remember, anyone who does something stupid, will render them unable to come with us, that applies to their families as well."

"Hai!" - exclaimed the soldiers as they went to their respective posts.

"That's a cold decision" - said Cloud calmly.

"It's what deserves those who don't know how to appreciate someone's goodwill during a time of crisis" - replied Yuriko disdainfully - "Anyway, we'd better get ready for the attack."

Cloud shrugged his shoulders before grabbing his trusty pistols and the katana that had been owned by the Yakuza leader.

Yuriko watched her with her eyes misty with tears as she felt Soichiro and Cloud's silhouettes merge together, though she quickly shook her head because it wasn't time to sink into her thoughts - "Let's survive..."

"Let's survive" - Cloud replied as he narrowed his eyes as he heard how the zombies seemed to be marching towards them.

"Get your weapons ready!" - Yuriko exclaimed fiercely - "It's time to show those things what we humans are capable of!"

She slowly moved her gaze to the blond boy who was accompanying her - "Remember the plan!"

"I know, I'm taking care of getting Saya to safety, and I'm coming to give you support" - Cloud replied calmly - "And that's my cue..."

A mighty roar echoed through the place as the zombies came into view outside the mansion.

"Annoying bastards" - Cloud muttered as he shook his head - "Good luck, Yuriko-san."

"I don't need luck, I have enough skill to survive these three months" - Yuriko replied neutrally.

"Good thing we were prepared..." - Rika muttered with a dark expression as she watched the zombies tear down the electric grids that had lost their power - "Start the operation! We have to meet up with the Takagi clan's forces!"

"Hai!" - The few soldiers exclaimed as they split into two groups, a defense group and one tasked with escorting the hundreds of survivors.

Rika took a long breath before starting to use all the ammunition she had, with the mindset that a lot of them would die during this operation - "We'll survive!"

"We will survive!" - The soldiers exclaimed under their hand as they began firing at the zombies.

"You know the plan!" - Kohta exclaimed as he used his assault rifle to take out all the monsters in his range of vision - "We have to move towards the vehicles!"

The girls nodded firmly as Saeko ran against the zombies with a huge smile on her lips. Her Katana started dancing on the battlefield as the heads of the monsters flew off one after another.

She let out a loud euphoric laugh, unconcerned about the blood splashing onto her face, all thanks to the mask she was wearing - "This is what I was wishing for!"

Rei watched this in silence as she wondered if this was what a man was looking for in a woman, though she quickly shook her head because this wasn't the time for that kind of bullshit.

Saya was analytically observing the situation to make sure everything was going according to plan - "Hirano-san, move two steps to the right and check the area!"

"Okay!" - Kohta exclaimed, only to notice a group of straggling zombies - "Enemies at 3 o'clock!"

Without hesitation, he dispatched them with utmost ease as he continued to reconnoiter the terrain.

"Clear!" - Kohta exclaimed earnestly.

"Then let's keep moving..." - Saya muttered as she adjusted her glasses, though she could feel her hands shaking. It was the first time she was leading an operation like this, and she was honestly afraid that one bad decision would endanger her small group.

"Easy, Saya-chan, you're doing a wonderful job" - Shizuka said with a smile.

"More enemy, get ready!" - Saeko exclaimed as she watched a group of zombies dash towards them - "Those things are getting more dangerous, earlier they could only walk and crawl, but now..."

"It's possible that the zombie virus is evolving" - Saya replied with a frown - "I wish I was smarter, so I could investigate the situation..."

The group continued to move forward while listening to the cries of despair of the survivors, who didn't know what the fuck was going on. It was terrible that from one moment to another, they would fall from heaven to hell.

"I hope with this they understand what world we're in" - muttered Saya as she watched Saeko save a group of survivors to join her improvised group.

"Come!" - Cloud exclaimed as he appeared in front of the group - "We have to go to the evacuation point!"

"Ok!" - exclaimed the people present as they followed the blond.

Takashi was sweating as he ran alongside his mother and girlfriend.

He didn't understand why, but the mansion had been attacked by a giant horde of zombies, and the worst part was that he wasn't prepared.

"Taka-kun!" - Airi exclaimed with tears in her eyes. She had been happy to finally be safe, but the situation had changed for the worse in a matter of seconds, and worse, now she didn't have a group to help them.

"Relax, we'll be safe soon, we just need to meet up with..." - Takashi replied unconsciously, though he quickly remembered that he had abandoned his group - ". . ."

"We'll talk about that later, Takashi, now we have to go somewhere safe!" - Kaede exclaimed as they continued to run through the corridors of the mansion in the direction of the parking lots because she had heard the announcement of how that was the evacuation point, though there was something that had her confused, and that was that it seemed Yuriko knew about this attack, and hadn't said anything until it happened.

"Taka-kun?" - Airi asked as she looked at her boyfriend who was showing a thoughtful face as they ran away.

"Sorry, I was thinking about something" - muttered Takashi while shaking his head - "But if what I'm thinking is correct, then there has to be a reason why Yuriko-san didn't order the evacuation earlier..."

"Ugh..." - Koichi Shido let out a sharp groan of pain as he felt his entire body burn from the torture he had received, though this caused him to quickly regain consciousness - "Where am I?"

[Hello, Shido...]

Shido reacted when he heard this voice as a deep hatred invaded his insides, though his expression changed again when he heard the sound of gunshots. He slowly looked in the direction of the voice and saw the face of Yuriko, who seemed to be looking directly into his eyes - ". . ."

Shido's expression changed when he heard this, after all, that meant there was a nuclear bombardment while he was unconscious.
