1 CHAPTER 1 [EDITED]

Life was not easy, I can not say that mine specifically is worse than others, but it was still bad.

My father died when I was four years old. Alone, my mother had to raise me on her own, the first years were really difficult, but she eventually found a stable job with a wage that allowed us to have some space for more luxurious things, such as the internet, movies, games, etc.

I always had problems at high school, perhaps because of my high grades everyone avoided me and the jocks were always doing whatever they could to make my life a living hell.

I was literally forced to being lonely by my colleagues, I couldn't even express my feelings for the girl I loved because of this.

Eventually, they went too far... during my 16th birthday, they played a prank on me, they put something in my food, probably sedatives considering the effects, but they put too much, and it took me a minute or so to fall into oblivion.

And that's how I ended up here, this soundless void.

I tried looking around already, but I felt like I couldn't even move, and as far as my eyes could see, there was nothing besides what I assumed to be the light of the stars.

"Fear not, my child, for your time has come." A voice trailed into my ears, as sudden as it was, I couldn't understand how it did not startle me.

"The reason, is simple, child, you're my son, and as such, I would never mean any harm towards you, and even unconsciously you know this."

Hearing this, tears started falling from my eyes.

"Who are you?" I couldn't see where was the person that spoke to me.

"I'm everything and I'm nothing as well, I was already here before the beginning, and I will remain after the end. My children gave me many names in the course of history, but you can call me any way you want since no word would be enough to fully represent me."

I gulped as I heard that. "Then, what's next? Am I going to heaven? Hell? Or will I reincarnate?"

"Hahahaha! I'm sorry my child, but things such as heaven and hell do not exist in this realm, your similars used my words for their own selfish reason, misinterpreting them purposefully in order to achieve personal gain, it doesn't matter if it is the north, the south, east or west, whatever you heard is but a piece of the truth or simply isn't true.

"After all, why would I punish my own children when their whole lives were influenced by events they have no control over? No man or woman is born evil, it's the world that corrupts them, but this world is yours and while I did interfere with it once, I decided later to allow you, my children, to have full freedom.

"For those who trailed the wrong path and eventually took the most dreadful of the decisions, they are sent back to live once more until they decide to change, for those who despite the adversities, still managed to make the right decisions, such as you, there is a reward in the form reincarnating in a world of your choice. Although, if someone truly wished to go to the heavens that could also be an option."

I couldn't help but smile hearing his/her words, perhaps a good future awaited for me. But then, I realized I was forgetting something very important.

"Mr... Eh... God? What about my mother? What will happen to her?"

Just as the words left my mouth, a vision of things I never witnessed before came to my mind, I saw my mother, she griefed over my death for some time, after she moved on, she eventually fell in love with a good man, they had a daughter, and every year mother would come to visit ny grave. Time passed like this, and eventually, she died of old age in a good family, having lived a happy fulfilling life.

"Now, tell me, Daniel, do you want to reincarnate in a world of your choice?"

"Yes!" My eyes shined just thinking of the possible choices I could make.

"Very well, tell me where do you wish to reincarnate."

After thinking for a moment, I couldn't help but blush slightly, some might think of me as a pervert for watching or even liking that anime, but I just couldn't help myself when it comes to that, unfortunately, I never managed to finish watching the first season, death took me before the last episodes were released.

"I would like to reincarnate in the world of High school DxD, if possible..."

"Very well, let me tell you something first since it's such a universe, I can not allow you to go unarmed, but your soul wasn't meant to house such power that easily, the gift I gave you, will be awakened during your 17th birthday and you will be able to retain your memories."

"What sort of power?" I asked curiously as I couldn't understand what sort of power he was giving me.

"One of the animes you've watched was once the true face of that universe, however, something happened and the whole universe collapsed, that power was stripped from humanity, and the universe eventually became what you know as High School DxD.

"What I gave you is not the best of the gifts, but its potential is still limitless, work hard, and one day you may even return that power to the humans of that world so that they can once more defend themselves against those beings. The choice is still yours anyway, to monopolize it or not, doesn't really matter, as humans still have a way, through which they can achieve the same result, although, not as easy."

I nodded, but I didn't make any real choice about the matter yet, he would only know which decision to make in the future.

"Farewell, my child, remember to never give up, as that world is only fit for the brave and the resolute."

As he said those words, the stairs around me suddenly stretched and I fell into a shining colorful whirlpool and passed out.

[A/N: I don't intend to attack anyone's religion, this is just my own views of the matter, and I fully understand if you think I'm wrong, I just want to believe it, as that is what I would like to happen to me anyway, although High School DxD definitely wouldn't be my choice of world hahaha.]
