13 1.11 The CEO

Waking up the next morning groggy, Sonja didn't immediately spring out of bed like she normally did. If one was confused, they would only need to take a glance at her expression to know why. She was pissed beyond comprehension.

That damnable bastard had another thing coming if he thinks he's hot stuff! What was his problem yesterday?! Was he sent on a mission to anger me to death, huh?! All these furious thoughts buzzed around her mind constantly, always circling back to that man and his behavior. He was so nonchalant that she had a hard time relaxing, but since the opportunity was so golden that if she didn't grab it her tasks would be so much harder, she swallowed any suspicion she had.

Sonja knew her anger was irrational, but she had never seen anyone so shameless, not that she had a lot of experience anyways, as her memories were completely useless at this point. She can only hope at this point that she could get a job as a normal office worker and proceed from there. What Sonja didn't know was that her thoughts were too naive, but that's for another time.

Calming down finally, Sonja got out of bed to do her morning routine when her phone buzzed. Confused at what or who had sent her something so early in the morning, she turned around and walked to her nightstand. Picking up the phone, she looked at the notification before the screen turned black again. An email from Sebastian's company, Iliescu Corporation has just popped into her inbox.

As she was just about to unlock the phone to take a look, Sonja remembered Sebastian's words from last night, "Look forward to a response in a few days." Smiling slightly, Sonja put down the phone and went on with her morning like nothing ever happened.

It wasn't until Sonja was going to go out to get groceries for her family later in the afternoon that she remembered the email. Since she didn't open her phone, the notification was still there in all it's electronic glory. As she paused in the doorway to the apartment, Sonja thought of her current situation. Both of her parents were diligent people and raised her to be as such, so if she slacked off, there would be some consequences. However, Mother Moreno was training to be a cooking instructor at the nearby activity center at this time and Father Moreno has gone to another interview, so both won't be home until much later. Going back inside the apartment, Sonja thought that just waiting a few more minutes to get groceries wouldn't hurt anyone.

Sitting down at the breakfast nook, Sonja opened her phone and tapped on the email app. Opening the email, Sonja's eye couldn't help but twitch. She didn't know what the hell she was expecting, but it certainly wasn't an acceptance email!

Not even bothering to read past the first sentence, Sonja got up and walked out of the house to get the groceries. Since that man had said to wait a few days, she would. After all, it wouldn't make a good impression if she immediately agreed to the job after her caution and reluctance last night, so better safe than sorry. She did not know that her actions would cause a certain man to frown with annoyance. He thought that her getting the job would cause her to immediately reply and open up a chance for conversation, and would thus broaden his knowledge about who she was and what her goal is because even though he displayed interest in her, that was it. It's like a child found a new toy to play with, one that was different from the rest he has.

After getting the groceries and setting them down on the counter, Sonja initiates a conversation with her system.

"System, how long does Rebekka have before she meets the male lead?" Even though she had prevented Rebekka and Sebastian from meeting, that didn't mean that there were t any other opportunities for them to do so, and she wasn't planning for the plot to run its course.

"That would be about two months Host! You would have enough time to enter the company, but you probably won't be able to make them avoid each other completely." The system also assumed she would get a normal office worker job, so it didn't really have an idea on how to separate the leads.

"You don't have to worry about that. I already have an idea, and that involves my superiors." Sonja smiled wickedly to herself, which made the system completely misunderstand her intentions.

"Host! You can't seduce your superiors! Remember, you're just a mob character, you don't have the protagonist halo so your luck would be drastically lower!" The poor system was fretting over nothing, and the host had black lines all over her face, and so she berated the foolish system.

"Would you stop making assumptions! I'm not seducing them. I'm using my marketing skills." Not speaking any further, Sonja began making a light dinner for her parents, as they would be home late and would not be able to eat with Sonja.

The system went back to what it normally does now, crying in a corner. Shaking her head at her eccentric system, Sonja focused on making dinner.

After the peace in the apartment was restored, even though it never was compromised in the first place, the tranquility in Sonja's mind and surroundings was soon interrupted by another notification on Sonja's phone. She checked it out absentmindedly as she was making the salad but froze when she saw who the sender was.

Sebastian Iliescu.
