2 Claiming my place in the tribe

After a rigorous waking up delivered so kindly by my father Guntar. I sat at the floor staring at the windows of the family cabin watching my tribe doing their monotonous chores but the happy smiles on their faces made it felt very warm in my heart.

I couldn't notice the nagging on my mother or the complains of my father.

I just sat there, smiling while crying of pure happiness. That all those years of suffering and hardships were just a bad dream.

Because of my strange behaviour my mother asked worried at me while he cleaned my tears with her multiuse hand cloth "Are you okey fluffy ? Did your brute father hitted you too strongly ? HEY YOU BRUTE WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO OUR KID?! DO YOU WANT TO GET IT DUMBER THAT HE ALREADY IS?!"

Ohh motherly love is all his essence...

My father stood up from his comfy chair of white wolf skins and stared at my mother "OF COURSE NOT MY SUNSHINE! If he can't endure that patting he has no chance in the ceremony of manhood today! I just wanted to make him train his endurance, you know he is clumsy and dumb as a brick. At least he can endure more hits this way!"

My mother stared him for a second and scoffed "Yeah you better be trying to help our little fluffy on his special day!" And then stared at me again "This time your father is right, you don't have good qualities so stand your ground and be like a wall is your only hope ! Now don't make more trouble and go to practice before the ceremony. Your father and me have work to do, make your own lunch. Bye !"

Ahh what a warm family eh ?

I laugh quietly myself before getting up and dusting my ass from the dusty floor.

Even when my mother cleans daily the dust have a way to get in, it amazes me somewhat.

When I reached to the handle of my front door musing myself of the strange dream I had suddenly a blue screen appeared in front of my face and it said.

"Congratulations user ! Your plane has choosed you to fight for freedom of your entire plane. Your mission is to fight the invaders of the enemy plane and reclaim your plane core! Failing to complete the mission the erase of the plane and all the souls that it had been gathered there! The limit time is 5 years, you can choose as many companions as you like but remember that each companion permanently decrease your stats by 50%! Good luck foolish soul!"

I stood there, frozen with the knot of the door while I revived all those moments of the past 5 years, realising that it wasn't a dream. That it all happened and someone or something, gave him the chance to change his feature. No! The entire plane feature for what it seems.

Not only I regained my mature future self attitude also all the knowledge of all of that 5 years is inside my brain now.

I have so many questions, hypothesis and fear. A lot of fear. How can I, and average meat shield soldier can have that much responsible on my shoulders. Sure I can have companions to share the burden, but choosing wrongly can not only make me weaker but also increase the possibility of the invaders to success. And that's something that I didn't wanted to happen.

Instinctively I knew that if we lose that core, all of the life in the plane is gonna die.

Now with a mental plan in his head, the brave fluffy stapped outside!

Why fluffy you wonder ? Not a chance you are getting that of me! I can tell you this, that the giant tribe has a particular rule that you have to gain your name and have it scribbed in your body after a successful rite of manhood.

But I didn't had my rite yet, so I didn't had a name! And that was a nickname that only my family could use. Anyone outside of their family should adress me as candidate.

You should see the fear of this young giants when somebody shouts on the street "COME HERE YOU CANDIDATE!" Most of them will flee without knowing if they were referring to them! Docens of young giants fleeing like their ass in on fire ! Hahaha that's a sight to see!

Okey so my plan right now is simple. I have a few hours to somehow reverse that poor results in my original rite. I barely won the fight for exhaustion of my enemy and the second test I passed while my father helped me. But he never called me by my earnt name.

He still called me candidate as a joke. But you know, all jokes has part of truth and when he called me candidate I could feel his deception even when he was laughing.

First thing first. I NEED TO GET OFF THIS BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH OFF OF MY FACE!

I runned asking my neighbors if they can see the blue thing if my face. They told me if I finally loose hope and swallowed a slime and became a total idiot. A few of them actually hitted my face "trying" to help but to no avail.

I finally loose hope and then I said " I'm gonna CLOSE my eyes and then you will be gone!"

And when I opened my eyes the blue rectangle was gone. It was some keyword or even the whole sentence. If the blue rectangle returns I would have to test it if my theory is right.

So I have two choices from where to choose. One is relative easy but pretty far away, at least two hours only to get there. And the other one is near, ,30 min tops, but is pretty much suicide but the gains are amazing.

Easy and long, or short but hard. Well I choose the first, because if I choose the second option and fail I doomed to repeat almost the same result as my last iteration.

With my choice made my body began to work. First I went back to my house and raided for food, some fruits and some dried meat, a skin canteen and a spare change of clothes and filled my leather backpack with all this necessities to began my journey.

And also I took and old wooden shield that my father intended to throw away.

After a quick bathroom check to be 100% I went directly to the door to began my first mission.

I choose a decent pace and began going the direction outside the tribe. A good pace is an issue of life or death , at least to me. When we were sent all over the human territory we were immediately dispatched when we arrived. Not like they care about our well being of conscripts. So the people that didn't make a good pace not only he get a beating from us to keep the pace steady, he/she had a lot more chances to die in the battlefield because of exhaustion. Remember that undead don't tire !

Finally I can now began my first journey to change my fate ! One step at the time!
