11 Awakened

3 weeks passed, Cheng finally opened up his eyes. I said, "Cheng, do you remember me? Do you remember what happen?"

Cheng said weakly, " Lina...."

I smiled and held his hand.

"I don't remember what happened." Said Cheng.

"The doctor said you might have paralysis due to brain injury. Also, You don't have to remember if your body doesn't want to." I said.

He nodded and held my hand. At least his hands are alright.

"Lina... i can't move my legs... i can't move... " Cheng looked teary eyed.

We called the doctors and they came really quick.

After checking up, it's been confirmed he have paralegia which is waist down paralysis where a patient cannot feel anything in their legs due to sensory problem. In Cheng's case, it's caused by motor vehicle accident.

"He needs intensive physiotherapy. But, it is possible to make a full recovery but it won't be easy." The doctor said.

Daniel held my hands tight, I said, "I'll be with you during physiotherapy sessions. Let's do it together. Okay?" I gave him a tight squeeze on the hand.

"Are you one of his family member?" The doctor asked me.

"I'm his girl friend." I replied.

"Mr. Cheng needs to work on those exercises after we do stimulation on his legs. He might or might not feel any thing... it will take time. You need to support him on this one. Do you understand?" the doctor explained.

"Yes." I replied.

"We will start tomorrow then." The doctor left.

I walked to Cheng's side and said, "I'm sorry Cheng, it's my fault I didn't protect you."

Cheng replied, "You are my girl, I will always protect you." I smiled.

After a few minute, Cheng wanted to sit upright. I helped him with that pretty easily.

I managed to gather my courage and said, " Cheng, I need to tell you something."

"Tell me what?" He wondered

"I am 1 month pregnant with our child. After you fully recover, my parents agreed to let us get married." I said happily.

"Come here." Cheng said as he let me sit close to him.

He felt my stomach and gently rubbed in circle. I kissed Cheng on the lips and said, "I love you, Cheng. I will give my all to help you recover."

Cheng kissed me back and said, "I love you. We are going to parents soon. Don't overwork yourself and rest when you have to."

I yawned and I actually felt tired. As I slept on his broad shoulder, it feels so good. Cheng kissed my forehead and put his left hand on my lower abdomen.
