15 New Captain of Squad 2

Life as a Captain was not as bad as he thought. He just had to be smart about it. And he was the master of delegating. He had a competent Lieutenant. Rojuro Ohtoribashi was the man's name. And if Toji wasn't the Captain, he was sure that Rojuro would become the Captain of the 3rd Division just as he was in the story.

But that was not important right now. What was important was that there was a new captain of the 2nd Division. The good ol' Shihoin clan sent its most recent and eldest child to take up the mantle of Captain of the 2nd Division. And Toji was 'obligated' to go and watch. 

But he had no interest in watching such a procession. Who the f*ck did those nobles think they were? He had other things to do ... 

"Captain, it is time for us to go now. Otherwise, we're going to be late.", Rojuro said.

"Eh, whatever. Let those 'nobles' wait for all I care. Why do we have to attend anyway? I have many other things to do."

"Like what Captain? You already give me and our third seat most of your work.", Rojuro said with a deadpan expression.

"... *cough*, and you know how thankful I am for your hard work Rojuro. I'm sure you will become a great Captain in the future. Maybe even the Captain of the 3rd Division. You know how much I praise you during the Captain's meetings.", Toji tried to dodge the accusatory gaze from Rojuro.

"Sure~ anyway, we really have to go now, or we'll be late. And then the Head Captain will yell again. I'm not sure how much he can take anymore."

"Yo think he's going to be- ... ah, who am I kidding. He'll be furious. And then it's going to be hot again. Like in a sauna. He really should learn to reign in his temper don't you think so Rojuro?"

"Uhhh..."

"Yeah, I agree, with you. I have started to notice a pattern. It appears like he is far too stressed. Maybe I can ask Unohana-sensei to give him a massage. She did give good massages... although they were quite scary too... I might have to get in there myself.", Toji was nodding and approving of his own thoughts.

"Yes, I think I will have to sacrifice myself for the entire Gotei 13 and give sensei a massage. That will surely cool-"

"CAPTAIN!! Enough of this. We have to go now!"

"Yare yare, Rojuro you don't have to yell, you know. I'm standing right in front of you."

"Urgh, I will lose my mind with you at this rate. How did you become Captain if you don't want to?", Rojuro asked him. Unlike the whispers and talks behind Toji's back, Rojuro was genuinely curious. Since Toji never showed his power and appeared to be rather ... goofy and happy all the time as well as lazy, he didn't have the best of reputations among the Shinigami.

Those who knew Toji though knew of his power and strength and the brilliant ones understood what he was capable of. But he was indeed getting on Yamamoto's nerves that he seemed not to do anything since he became a Captain. That was not true of course. 

After all ... only the ladder is real ... the climb is all there is. 

Toji never stopped training. He has become seriously powerful, not just with his Schrift 'V' - 'The Visionary' but also his powers of a Shinigami and Hollow. He had trained all the abilities that Quincies, Shinigami and Hollows had or were able to use inherently.

This took a few centuries but he didn't rush anything. He liked to take things slow and not use 'the Visionary' for everything. The Hogyoku had transformed him into a true powerhouse and it was questionable who stood a chance against Toji anymore. 

Apart from that he usually spent some time in the 12th Division and tried to watch them work on new things or help with something. He was not a welcomed guest, but he was still a frequent one. 

Now, today it was time for the new Shihoin brat to take the role of Captain of the 2nd Division as well as leader of the Onmitsukidō. And as far as he heard, it was a woman. A pretty one too. But that was not something that concerned Toji. There were enough cute ladies in the Gotei 13 or the Quincies. Although there would also be some cuties in the Arrancars in the future. Food for thought.

Toji reluctantly made his way to the 1st Division assembly hall where the 'princess' was supposed to be welcomed. 

"We are going to be late Captain.", Rojuro told Toji. 

"Don't let it give you sleepless nights. wouldn't be the first time it happened and certainly not the last."

"How you can still be so nonchalant when you know that you will be scolded by the Head Captain, is beyond me."

"Oho, pure skill and charm, my dear Lieutenant. Don't worry ... we'll work on yours and I guarantee you, you'll see changes.", Toji told Rojuro.

A vein seemed to pop when Rojuro heard that. He was very proud of his style and he didn't have problems with the ladies... it wasn't about the ladies in the first place...

The two made their way to the Assembly hall and Toji walked in. 

Everyone looked at the duo. Everyone was already there and they just walked into the ceremony. Yamamoto's veins were also threatening to pop. 

"Ah? Seems like we're the last one to arrive... Sorry about that everyone.", Toji said with a neutral face and then went all the way to the front where his spot was. 

"You don't look sorry ...", a feminine voice said.

Toji looked around and saw the Shihoin princess addressing him. She had a weird look on her face. Annoyance? No couldn't be, right?

"Oh, our newest member. I guess they were right.", Toji said.

"Right about what?"

"You're indeed quite pretty."

Almost everyone was flabbergasted. Only Shunsui had to keep himself from smiling. Jushiro sighed as he knew about his friend's character. Unohana ... well let us not talk about her. 

The room started to heat up and everyone looked at Yamamoto who was beyond angry at this point. Although he was more annoyed at his student, for causing another scene. He couldn't really be angry with his students especially not Toji.

"Ah, Yama-ji. Watch out or your blood pressure will rise.", Toji said.

*Booom*

Toji was embedded into the wall.

"You come late, disrespect the new Captain of the 2nd Division and then have the nerve to talk about my blood pressure!! Get your ass off the ground and act like a Captain, NOW!!!"

"Hai, hai ... Yama-ji. Still as strong as ever."

"Hphm, strong enough to deal with an unruly child. Now back to the procession."

The ceremony went as intended after that. After they were dismissed Shunsui and Jushiro approached Toji.

"That was a marvellous act today Toji. The new Captain must have a brilliant opinion of you now.", Shunsui said with a smile. 

"When has Toji ever cared about what others thought about him?", Jusiro said.

"Oi oi, I do care. I just don't care for such pompous ceremonies and useless decorum. We could have been drinking tea or sake while enjoying the nice weather, instead, we were here for two hours going through the motions, just because the Shihoin clan happens to be one of the four 'noble' clans.", Toji explained. 

"We know that Toji, and I dislike them as much as you do. But we don't have to do such things too often though no?", Shunsui said.

"Shunsui's right. And besides, there is no reason why we can't still do that no?", Jushiro asked.

"True. Let me get us some nice tea and then we meet at the usual place, cool?"

"Cool." "Sure."

(Yoruichi POV)

Toji Fushiguro, Captain of the 3rd Division. I don't see how someone like him could make Captain. He has nothing going for himself. He is late, talks back and seemingly has a problem with authority apart from the Head Captain. 

No, that is not quite right. It seems like he doesn't acknowledge any authority other than the Head Captain. And that might also only be because he is his student. 

Well, I have no interest in him anyway. Just another nameless Captain ... 

"Thinking about Captain Fushiguro again, Yoruichi?", I heard a voice next to me. 

"Kisuke ... I don't know what you're talking about."

"If you say so. But it sure seems like you 'don't think about him' often. What made you 'not' interested in him anyway?", Kisuke asked with the suggestive tone he used when he figured something out.

"I said NOTHING. You are so nosy."

"Hehe."

(Toji POV)

Well isn't that interesting? Here I was taking a walk when I was approached by this Shinigami from the 5th Division, wanting to show me his Zanpakuto. 

"... what?", I say.

"Captain Fushiguro, I wanted to ask whether you would do me the honours and have a look at my Zanpakuto. I just unlocked my Shikai and wished to show someone.", the Shinigami with glasses told me. 

"That smile ... what a nice man you are. So gentle and honest. I can tell, I'm a people person.", I say to him while smiling. It is not often that someone talks to me other than my friends.

"So may I show it to you?"

"I mean sure. Wait why do you want to show this to me? Don't you wish to show this to Captain Hirako, your squad captain?", I ask him.

"I already did. But he was not very impressed. So I thought that if I could show it to you, who used to be a student of the Head Captain and the most talented one if the rumours are to be believed, I would surely get tips from you."

"You ...", I say as my eyes begin to water, "you think I am talented?..."

"Of course, I do.", the young man says with a smile. 

"That is so nice of you. It has been a while since someone told this to me. And now since you think so I believe that I can tell this to Shunsui and Jushiro. Hehe, this will show them.", I say and already I am lost in my thoughts as I think about the faces of my friends when I tell them what this young man said.

"Captain Fushiguro?"

"Ah yes of course. Show me. I'm sure it's a wonderful Shikai. Although it is unusual to just come up to me and show me your Shikai ... that would make you wonder ... it is a bit suspicious...", I say and look at the young man.

He still has that innocent smile. It seems he understands that it sounds weird but he took all of his courage to approach me. What a good seedling. 

"I- I understand that this is a weird request, Captain Fushiguro. I apologise for-"

"Now now. Don't get all flustered. I'm sure you don't have any evil thoughts. So come on let's see your Shikai."

"R-really?"

"Yeah. Come on show me."

"Alright. Thank you Captain Fushiguro."

The man slowly unsheathed his Zanpakuto and activated his Shikai.

"Scatter, Kyoka Suigetsu."

A bright light was seen and then I saw a Hollow running up to me. I didn't even notice him before. I unsheath my own Zanpakuto and kill it. 

But then I noticed that it was just a reflection and not a real Hollow. 

"Ooohh, you created a reflection. Very good. I think it is a wonderful Shiai you have there. What is your name?"

"Aizen, Sosuke Aizen."
