12 Mother

After I heard that news, I and the guards hurried back to Crimson Village. As soon as I reached the village center, I saw a very glorious lady with four men behind her. She was with Laur and Grano.

Even though I am still injured, I still tried my best to act like I don't. I welcomed the lady which I would assume as Laur's Mother.

"Greetings Madame Fairy. My name is Wreck and I am the leader of this village. I thank you for your support to our village and the Crimson Woods."

She smiled.

"Hello, their young fellow. I am named Lucy. The main guardian of the Crimson Woods and the mother of Laur. You can call me Lady Lucy."

So she is the leader of the fairies here. Does that mean that Laur is kinda like the princess and the heir to the fairies? She sure is an important lady. Anyways if I can compare her to someone from earth it would be a lady in her mid to late forties that is very rich and has a husband who is a CEO of a company. I feel those vibes on her. She does look young for her age now that I think about it. She has a fully grown daughter. They do not look like a mother-daughter. They look more like sisters.

"So you are the human that caught the interest of my lovely daughter. You seem kinda plain but to be able to create a village in our domain is still impressive for a human to do so I assume you have some serious skills."

"Th-Thank you for the compliments, Lady Lucy."

That comment of me being plain is kinda true but it still hurts you know😢.

"I have arrived here in your village in order to examine your way of living here in the Woods, and I would say it is pretty impressive. You also seem well-liked by the refugees I gave you so I would say you are successful."

That praise felt amazing so I bowed to her while smiling.

"But that is not the only reason I came here. I see your capabilities as a good leader. I see you also as a good human, but I have yet to see you as a potentially good husband."

What? Husband? For what? I never planned to get married yet?!? Who would I marry?!?

"I came here to meet you and also to conduct a test for you. I need to test your capabilities as a good husband and father, but it looks like you are injured."

Wait how did she know I was injured? Anyways maybe this is good because I do not want to partake in any test I have no knowledge into. I don't want to be forced on anything.

"But that is no problem since we have my assistant here that can heal you. So prepare for the test."

"Wh-What?!?!"

I was then approached by two assistant fairies and they touched my hands. After a few seconds, it already felt normal. That was cool. Anyways I looked at Laur who seems kinda nervous and silent. Is she nervous about me? Damn, I am the one who is really nervous here!

I know nothing about this. Laur then suddenly approached me.

"Hey Laur what is this all about?"

"This is a test for you and if you are a good husband, so you better try your best!"

"Husband for what? I still have no plans in marrying. I do not want to marry anyone yet."

She looks very sad and then ran away. Did I say something bad?

Grano, who was observing the situation at my back, approached me.

"That was a bad thing to say, young chief!"

"Wh-What? Why?!"

"This test is important for her too."

"Why would it also be important for her?"

"Because Lady Lucy is testing whether you could be a husband to Lady Laur or not. Basically, she wants you to be her husband because she likes you."

Damn. Now that was awkward. I just realize that I did something insensitive. That was so bad. Now I am mad at myself. Now that I think about it. I have always seen Laur as someone I like. No, I have always liked her since the beginning but I did not realize that. Damn. Now I really gotta try my best now since my future with Laur is at stake.

"Are you ready Wreck?"

"Yes, Lady Lucy."

"Good. Now for the first test, Arithmetics."

What? Math? Now, this is going to be bad. I flunked my math grades during school.

"Let us say that there are twenty fairies in the forest. All but seven went away. How many are left?"

Eh? This is not the kind of math I was expecting. This is rather a riddle, and I have heard of this riddle a million times back on earth.

"Seven is my answer, Lady Lucy."

"C-Correct!"

Lady Lucy's face looks stunned. Even the other fairies and the residents seem impressed with my answer. Was it really that hard? Are these people not capable of calculating? Looks like the school idea really needs to be implemented sooner rather than later. By the way, how is math related to being a husband?

"Anyways, the Next test might take a while because this is a physical test."

I was naturally worried since these fairies seem strong. I would assume that it would be a duel.

"The test is to subdue or tame the King of the Crimson Woods, the Crimson Beasts!"

Eh? Tame the crimson beast? You mean the lion I fought earlier this day? We are friends now so that means that I am done?

"You need to be worried young man since this is going to be tough." She said that with confidence in her face.

"Uhm, Lady Lucy..."

"Yes?"

"I have already tamed the Crimson Beast earlier. I will bring it here."

"Impossible?!!? That was supposed to be hard!"

Well, It was really hard. It even almost killed me.

I walked outside and brought the lion at the center of the village. Everyone, including the fairies, were shocked.

"How did you do that?!?!"

"I fought it earlier and defeated it. We became friends now, but it was a really hard fight, I got even injured."

"So that is why you came here hurt."

I nodded. The lion then just walked towards my house and took a nap at the top of it.

"Anyways. Here is your final test. You need to answer this truthfully."

I gulped.

"Do you like my daughter, Laur?"

I was taken aback by the question. I have just met Laur for about two months. She has helped me a lot for those short amount of time. She has been there for me. I always spend my time here, but why am I hesitating? I always knew the answer right from the start. The problem is that I do not know how would I say it, but it seems like I have the right answer now.

"Answer my question young Wreck."

I am ready. I have decided on my future.

"No...."

Everyone was surprised, some screamed with disappointment. The crowd seems to like it got even bigger, but my answer was not done yet...

"I---

Laur's POV

I remained hidden ever since Wreck told me that he has no plans of marrying me. Did I not convey my emotions enough? Did I misunderstand our relationship? Anyways I am now hiding like a little girl. I do not know what to do, but I still need to move on.

I need to face this dilemma. If he does not love me then fine, we can just be friends.

Just when I stood up, I heard a lot of commotion in the village center.

Eh? Did Mother not leave yet? Did something happen?

I quickly approached the crowd and heard my mother said.

"Do you like my daughter, Laur?"

Wreck did not answer. I do not know why, but I am kinda expecting he would say yes. No, I am wishing that he would say yes but then...

"No....."

Darn. Those words hit hard. I already knew this but it still hurts. I was about to leave when suddenly I heard a loud scream.....

"I DO NOT LIKE HER BECAUSE I LOVE HER!!! I WANT TO MARRY YOUR DAUGHTER LADY LUCY!!!"

My heart is filled with emotions right now. Not because of the loud noise the crowd made. Not because Wreck said some cool words. It is because my feelings have been received, and he returned it back.

I quickly ran towards Wreck. I jumped at him and said

"You stupid human..."

And then we kissed.
