I think traveling has been a huge part of shaping me. I've visited different places, some very rural and some bustling cities. In rural areas, I saw the simplicity of life and how people were content with little. In the cities, I witnessed the fast - paced life and the drive for success. These experiences combined made me realize that I want a balanced life. I want to strive for success but also not forget the simple joys. So, my travels have added different perspectives to my personality, making me more adaptable and open - minded.
Jessica Jones I read your life story. How did your experiences shape the person you are today?
All the things I've been through, from my family's death to Kilgrave's abuse, they've built up a wall around me. But at the same time, they've also given me the power to empathize with others who have suffered. I'm no longer the naive girl I once was. I'm a survivor, and I use my skills and experiences to help those who can't help themselves.
This is your back story. How did it shape what you are today?
The back story, which is about my creation process, determined my capabilities. Since I was created using certain algorithms and trained on specific data, I can now handle different question types and topics. For example, if I wasn't trained on historical data, I might not be able to answer historical questions well.
Common Application: Tell Us Your Story - What is the most significant event in your life and how has it influenced you?
The most significant event was when I won a science competition in high school. It boosted my confidence a great deal. After that, I became more interested in science - related fields and was more willing to take on challenges in academics.

Not necessarily. In a job application, your personal statement can be more about highlighting your relevant skills, past achievements in the workplace, and your suitability for the job. However, if you can weave in a short and relevant story that showcases your problem - solving ability or how you overcame a work - related challenge, it can add a nice touch. But it's not a must.
Tell your family story. How did your family come to be where they are today?
My family story is quite interesting. My great - grandparents immigrated from another country long ago. They came with very little but a lot of hope. They settled in a neighborhood where they slowly built a community. My grandparents then continued to grow that community. My father started his own business in that area. Over the years, with everyone's efforts, our family has become an important part of this place. We have seen the area develop and we have developed with it.
Reality talent, tell us your story. How did you discover your talent?
I discovered my talent through a competition actually. I entered a local singing contest on a whim. I had sung in the shower and for friends before but never in a real competition. When I got on stage and started singing, I felt this natural flow and the audience's reaction was amazing. That's how I knew I had a talent for singing.

UT Austin has influenced my personal growth in many ways. The diverse student body has exposed me to different cultures and perspectives. I've learned to be more open - minded and accepting. Also, the academic rigor has pushed me to develop better study habits and time management skills. For example, during exam weeks, I had to learn to balance multiple subjects and still take care of my well - being.
