It was about aliens invading Earth and humans were forced to hide in big cities to defend themselves. There was also an alien civilization that was more advanced than the invaders that provided help to humans. Something like a protective shield protected the entire city. There was also a counterattack weapon, but the energy was limited and could only be used by one. The main character seems to be in Shanghai. Later on, the invaders set up a trap to lure humans into using weapons to consume energy. However, the main character discovered the conspiracy and I can't remember the rest.
