Was the master of Sun Wukong, the founder of Bodhi in Journey to the West, the same person as Bodhi in the future?
According to the story of Journey to the West, Sun Wukong's master, Bodhi, and the future Bodhi were not the same person. In the Journey to the West, Patriarch Bodhi was a talented disciple of Taoism who was sent to the human world to teach Taoism. Sun Wukong heard about the existence of Patriarch Bodhi on his way to the scriptures and received guidance from Patriarch Bodhi because he asked the patriarch to give him a positive fruit. However, in Buddhism, Patriarch Bodhi was regarded as a master of Zen and was the disciple of the fifth ancestor of Zen, Hongren, not a Taoist figure.
