Ba Jin (December 12, 1897-April 12, 1972), formerly known as Li Shi, was famous in modern China, translator, literary critic, and social actician. Ba Jin was born in Changsha, Hunan Province, and grew up in Shanghai. He began to publish novels in 1923 and published a large number of literary works in his life, including novels, essays, translation, criticism, etc. His works were fresh and natural, and were deeply loved by readers. He was hailed as one of the pioneers of modern Chinese literature. Ba Jin's representative works included "Home","Spring","Autumn","Canopy Collection","Border Town","Torch" and so on."Home" was regarded as a classic work of modern Chinese literature. His novels were not only of high literary value in China, but also in the world. They were hailed as "the treasure house of modern Chinese literature". Ba Jin had won many literary awards, including the Lu Xun Literature Prize of China, the Knight of the French Medal of Literature and Art, and the Knight of the British Medal of Literature and Art, etc. He died on April 12, 1972 at the age of 61.
