The earliest annals, national literature, and biographies could be traced back to ancient Chinese history books and biographies. Chronological style referred to the historical records that arranged historical events in order of time, such as the Spring and Autumn Annals and Zuo Zhuan. The national style referred to historical records that arranged historical events according to regions or countries, such as the Records of the Historian and the Book of Han. Ji Zhuan Ti referred to historical books that described historical events in the form of biographies, such as Shi Ji and Zi Zhi Tong Jian. The appearance of these works marked the development and maturity of ancient Chinese literature, and also provided rich creative materials and inspiration for later literary works.
