Du Fu (712 - 770) was one of the great poets of the Tang Dynasty. He was born in a poor aristocratic family. He was intelligent and studious since childhood, and liked reading, especially good at poetry creation. Du Fu had experienced the chaos and turmoil of the early Tang Dynasty. He had served as a secretary, a school secretary, and a supervisory censor. His works reflected the dark side of society and the suffering of the people at that time, but also showed his deep patriotic feelings and sympathy for the people. Du Fu's poems covered a wide range of life, including politics, history, nature, human feelings, and so on. He was known as the "father of poetry and history." His poems were concise in language, profound in artistic conception, and had a strong sense of thought and artistry. Later generations called him the "Poet Saint".
